Yes. There is a livestock clinic nearby that takes chickens...but it could take a few days to get her in. Should I wait for the vet, or start Baytril right away (assuming that is something TSC carries)?
No...TSC does not carry it you will have to order it online somewhere or get it from a vet.

TSC doesn't have it because it is prescription only through proper channels, but pigeon and gamebird sites sell it illegally without a prescription.

Note that it is banned for use in poultry. I still use it, and many vets prescribe it but thought you should know.

Baytril is a powerful antibiotic that used to be prescribed regularly for chickens, it was "taken of the shelf"/ banned for use in poultry BUT vet's still prescribe it today.

Kinda like how Seven dust used to be the think to use for bugs and people all over till use it but it isn't labeled for chickens anymore.
Make sense?

Yes. Inside the egg was one totally normal yolk and white PLUS a huge horrifying glob of nasty. The glob thing was also attached to a little cord of tissue that extended outside the main egg and connected to a second tiny soft-shell or membrane. You can sort of see the tissue cord in this photo.

It is possible that it's just a glitch and that she will be fine.

Happy Stacey Update!! :wee

Just talked to her briefly on the phone and she and all her critters are OK! And her house is intact, she didn't get any flooding but said a lot of houses in her town are flooded.

She's almost out of gas for her generator and it's impossible to get gas cuz the roads are all blocked or flooded, but hopefully they will be able to get some soon They're estimating the power's gonna be out maybe up to a couple weeks.

She has her chickens in the garage.

She'll text me an update tomorrow and I'll let you guys know what's up. She said the storm has passed over her area. She said to tell you all she misses you!

Gonna go watch 90 Day Fiance now (my trash-TV guilty pleasure; please do not tell anyone).

Love ya's! Y'all have a good night!:hugs

I'd give her a few days...see if she lays a normal one.
A few days won't make a difference if you were wanting to start antibiotics.

Thank you both :hugs:hugs:hugs
I will call the vet tomorrow just to see when their next available appointment is, and I will keep a close eye on her. She is acting perfectly fine....so far.:hmm
