This time of year we get all of the storefront sales AND an odd increase in panhandlers.

Blah blah blah stranded
Blah blah blah will work for whatevers
Etc etc etc.
Mostly standing within 50 yards of 10 places with now hiring signs.

Over half have a dog or cat with them.

I know I sound harsh BUT I see the same ones week after week after week.

Then there's the brave ones that come up on you while you're putting things in your trunk.
They scare the bajesus out of me.
First with the startle then with not knowing if I am about to go missing.
There was a story out this way that showed a person out at a corner asking for $$ & then they go and get in a new suv. It's like that's their job. It's so strange. I totally get that people *need* help, but it's hard to tell who really needs help and who's taking advantage of the kindness of others.
The football team for our local school sells these cards for $10 where you can get $ off of things at a few places. I bought them for several years and this year I told them no. I've never once used it. I got a $10 card for dominos for a save $ on your order thing. Never once used it. Bought one of those SaveAround coupon books from the fundraiser my daughter's dance team had & the only thing I used was a coupon for Enterprise for our rental car. I'm pretty sure I could have found the same coupon online for free.

wow the dog food racket is a new one to me There is one guy outside of Walgreens off and on throughout the year. He says he just wants bus fare. By now he must have enough for 1st. air fair. I just ignore him.
They also hang out at the gas stations here. Say their out of gas and could they just have a few dollars to fill their tank. One time my husband said “pull your car up, I’ll treat you to some gas.” The woman called him an expletive and walked away.

Lol

Food for thought......

If the panhandlers get 5 people to hand them $5 in an hour they just made 25 bucks an hour tax free.

That's less than one every 10 minutes.

One I see regularly wears 100 dollar a pair shoes. Yup I seen them shoes in the sketchers store just an hour before.

Yes Chicky, we have the ones that run up to the cars. They also lean on the no panhandling signs.
:hmm

Do ya'll have the road panhandlers? The ones that will sprint to your car window at the red light? I do not like that! I love, love, love the bell ringers that just sing or say merry christmas but ignore that dumb bell. Those ones get my change if I have any or a snack at least. :)
Yes!

And a crew that takes turns at the entrance to Walmart
