Are you sure you're in the midwest USA and haven't migrated into Southern Canada?
It's so weird... completely bipolar. I saw this post on fb that was pretty funny. It's pretty much what's happening here.

I know I go on and on but this whole stupid situation could have been solved with a simple locking lunchbox.
Or keeping his dork butt bottle with him.
Or crap, drink soda at work man will drink red bull but soda is just too lowbrow for his refined tastes!
Just so many other options, his excuse is he dosen't want it happening to anyone else.
It won't ever though, even if it is happening everybody else drinks soda or coffee if they perchance have a bottle they keep it with them like proper paranoid people.
Ok i'm done, for now.:hmm

Yeah, I know this very well! Plus his workplace has a strict no filming rule for employees and visitors.
The plant just got sold to a Japanese company and they are already cracking down on dumb stuff as is.
He seems to think since he's been there 20 years and is sooo smart he's not replaceable.

A few years ago we had a problem at my library w/ break ins... we don't have a no filming policy, but they bought a small (crappy) security camera to put by the counter where the register is to catch them... they'd stolen a couple laptops from my office and broke in to the desks of the HR office & the payroll office.. So we set up the camera and nothing ever happens so my boss says "Maybe I'll just set up the camera in our office so I can keep an eye on what you're doing".. Um, I don't think you can do that. Seriously... if you don't want us doing non work stuff, then order something so we can do our JOBS.... smh. She didn't do it and IDK where the camera even ended up, but it was a ridiculous suggestion.

In one of our branches, in a more affluent town, we DO have security cameras, not b/c of anything being stolen, but b/c we had a patron PEEING in the stacks. They caught the guy. Staff had to do sweeps of the building to check for pee w/ a black light. They finally caught him and had him arrested. They had to throw away so much stuff. I'm not sure what ever happened to him, but he was banned.

Ewwwww! Nasty! I don't get people and sometimes i'm really happy about that.:sick
