Oyster Shells For Ducks?

Do I need to wash the fresh oyster shells before I crush them up for the ducks? This is all new to me.

If you buy oyster shell from a feed store there is no need to wash it.

I know oysters grow in Florida and around us but do they grow in Washington? Are you going down to the beach to collect them? If so, I'd say rinse them off but not go to extremes. What do you say @casportpony since you're out that way?

If you are mashing them up yourself how are you doing it? Just curious!

I know nothing about feeding non-processed oyster shell. I guess one could call a mfg and ask.

thats a good idea because I could bring back all the oyster shells I want from the Gulf Coast for free! But then I'd have to smash them somehow which I'm thinking might be more work than just going to Tractor supply and buying a 50lb bag!
