Welp, got part of my chores done... FINALLY got around to raising and fixing up one set of hutches. One more to go, but that can wait a little bit. I'm covered in rabbit poop, lol!

Ducklings and foster-mom got out this morning. The other ducks had had enough of watching them eating when they couldn't, so they broke in. *sigh* I had to discipline Cloud several times for picking on the mom. Ah well, I'd intended on moving them to an enclosure with a small pool anyhow, so this just made me do it a bit quicker. They'll be going in a crate at night inside the main coop now. Hopefully in a couple of weeks, I can start letting them loose with everyone.

This is Dolly who thinks brooding on top of a bale of shaving is fun(no eggs) She use to be blue but over her 10 yrs she has just a smidge of blue left.View attachment 3259563
That seems to be the way with the duck's feathers. Pinball Duck was a black duck with just a white bib and some white speckles in her face in 2019. Now she is mostly white with some black speckles.

I'm thinking I might try some muscovies here. All the colors intrigue me, and it'll give me a chance to learn some new genetics.

Plus, I now have a large fully-covered pen that can keep them in - I tried once before with a small flock of four bought as adults, but they flew out of the pen and someone hit them on a small dirt road :( Honestly I think they must have done it on purpose. Either that or they came FLYING up that road way too fast, because the speeds you need to drive on it to be safe, you'd never hit something accidentally.

Oh, and i cut that picture out of this video:
If anybody needs more drakes, just ask Pinball Duck. Her Drake to Duck ratio is five drakes to one duck (5:1). Anybody wants some drakes?
If you pay for the shipping and vet costs, sure! :D

Yessssss! Excellent!

Honestly, their genetics are fairly simple compared to some other duck colours. Yet another reason I am NOT getting into Calls! I'm still studying up on rabbit genetics! And don't get me started on chickens... Leaving that one to DD!

I love all the Call genetics :) It's like a puzzle! It looks like scovies have a decent number of colors and patterns to learn, too.

Now to find some eggs or ducklings, lol. I'd be wanting some fun colors to play with. Might have to wait until next year to add them.

I need to find more Muscovy breeders in Canada. >.> OR, move to the States. BF has been trying to get me to do that, but neither of us can afford to buy a parcel of land yet.

I really really want some Lavender, and Ripples.
