Be sure to always carry your cell phone with you too. I am a good one to preach as I usually don't but if I have a good pocket on me I do. I am always afraid of dropping it in their water buckets. My coworker dropped a huge heavy hay bale on himself and had to crawl from the barn to the house to get help. He learned the hard way to to take the phone with him.

I know what you're talking about! - Of course i didn't had my phone with me in 2018, when the platform collapsed under me and i fell down over 10' and broke my left foot… I was crawling on all three back to the house to get help.
Here's the catch: There is a large area on my property where i don't have cell phone coverage! So you cannot even rely on your phone too all the time...

Update on the pond-dux: Time is running out! About 20% of the pond is covered in ice and tonight -7° (19F) is forecasted. Good thing is that the pond has started to freeze from the back, so they can no longer escape into the woods. Looking forward to tomorrow when there's ½ covered in ice...
I have prepared some conveniences for the dux, to convince them that it is better down here than at the pond. First i covered the snow around the food bowls with wood-chips:

Then i cleaned a path to the dux-run as best as i could:

And then at the end of that path comes the best surprise for them: I covered the floor in the dux-run with some old hay! Does that not look comfortable?!
