Morning all! Bearded dragons are the best! Even the wild ones are completely chilled. @Pyxis do you need a licence to own reptiles over there? They do indeed need special care, looks like Caramel is a very happy lady.

What breeds of duck should I have to get a colourful basket? I am yet to find someone that has colourful runner layers here. They all lay white.

I've got a beardie :) Her name is Caramel. I've had her since she was just barely as long as my index finger.

They are, unfortunately, one of the most abused types of reptiles. Mainly because they are so popular as pets, but people don't bother to do the proper research before getting them, so they keep them in tanks that are way too small (40 gallon breeder is the bare minimum) or keep them on sand (never should be kept on sand) or don't get the proper lighting for them (they need UVB lighting set up a certain way) or don't get the vitamins and minerals they need, etc etc.

I was laughing to myself while you all were going on about cockroaches, because I have a breeding colony of cockroaches under my bed :p Dubia roaches, for Caramel. And the birds get to eat all the extra males, too.

Here she is:

She’s gorgeous!! :love

And dubias are actually kinda cute for roaches! Lol

And oh yes! I’ve done tons of research on them and most of the small animals as I’ve pretty much wanted them all at one point or another :lau

So it would be treated well. :D

But it annoys me when people don’t research then the animal suffers.

Goldfish and guinea pigs are another big one :hit

My son would love to have a bearded dragon, but I put my foot down...at least for a couple more years...
No more caged critters!! I always get stuck on clean up duty 😠

I agreed to ferrets, because they were so stinking cute AT THE PET STORE. But then the magic wore off and we were still stuck with them! They lived to the ripe old age of 6 😖

Nope, no license. They’re considered pets and sold in most of the big name pet stores Along with leopard geckos, snakes (mostly corn snakes and ball pythons), and tarantulas, and numerous other reptiles/amphibians like frogs, tortoises, turtles etc. I think some species require permits in some states but most of the reptiles and stuff are considered domestics now. I know you were asking Pyxis not me but it’s the same in most states I think and I’m from New England too :)

I know here in MA exotics like tigers, lions, wolves, wolf dogs, hybrid cats, etc. are banned and they banned red eared sliders several years ago but most others are allowed.

Totally understandable! That’s part of why I haven’t gotten any caged critters. I would love parakeets and/or cockatiels or something like guinea pigs, gerbils, bunnies, rats, etc. but I am horrible at cage cleaning. Oddly enough I am fine with chicken coop cleaning and stall cleaning if we had animals requiring stall cleaning but the small frequent stuff I hate. I am terrible at litter box cleaning and water changes too

I do try to keep on top of it but I know it would be irresponsible to get a caged animal. Plus we don’t have room for the cage anyway haha

As for ferrets, so cute but sooo smelly!!! Hahah

 you need licences for all of that here. Theres reptile, amphibian, exotic, and emus have their own special licence. We jist fed the lizards and parrots in mums garden and they would return every year. Parakeets there are what we call budgies here. Our parakeets are completely different, red faced birds but the same size. But budgie/parakeets are the best pets!!!

No license, unless you're wanting to keep and breed local animals, for the most part :)

Cayugas lay black eggs, if you find well-bred ones.
