We're getting smoke from the fires here too. Very hazy outside. Luckily not as bad as some places.

Here is a picture I managed to get tonight of the geese and their gosling.

Pretty sure it's a girl, going by coloring. Would be really surprised to get a male that dark.

Earlier this night our famous hatching eggspert Pyxis was found badly beaten up and unconscious in the geese-run. The four culprits honked in defense that she wanted to touch their gosling…
😜

They look as if they would eat you whole if you come too close.

Oh, Pixel learned the hard way not to get close. She likes to 'herd' them and I warned her when she was out there to leave them alone. She did not heed my warning and after getting smacked by the gander's wing kept her distance, LOL.

While visiting my companies headquarter in Redwood Shores i heart a lady screaming for help out of the top of her lungs: She must have come too close to a pair of Canada Geese and their baby. Now the gander was pulling on her wide skirt and wouldn't let her go…
Impressive birbs, Canada Geese! The Gander would not back up, not even when threatened with a laptop bag. In the end both humons left the scene, backwards…
:gig

Junior is now eating A LOT of peas (sprinkled with yeast and finely ground eggshells) - around 250-300 g of cooked peas daily. Also some corn and vitaminized rice. Still doesn't really give a duck about layer crumble (pellets not currently available sadly).

She has also started to drink a visible quantity of vitamin-infused water and cooled down a bit on lettuce (must have been a drinking substitute which makes sense).

Her large wing feathers are starting to grow the fine brown feathery part and progress is visible daily. At least one eye is already visibly better from the antibiotic. Her legs seem noticeably stronger (when she tries to escape when we're administering the medication :) .

All in all we're making progress.

In general duck news, we've had rain - again - and slugs are being hunted down in industrial quantities. Happy ducks all over the place.

Very good news about Junior!!

My ducks aren't crazy about slugs if I offer them but I am not seeing many so someone must be taking care of the slimy things.

Good Morning/Evening to you all.
I wish i could touch Buffzillas fluffballs! - She trusts me more than any Momma Duck before, this afternoon i set up a kindergarden for her ducklings: A shallow plastic box as swimming pool, crushed pellets, cat-food and meal-worms in another container, water and food for Momma Duck.
Everybody was looking at what i was doing and when i was finished, the ducklings hopped into the water, even had their first zoomies, pooped in the pool, drank the poop-water, stepped with their wet webbies into the food, from there into the drinking water and then sat down in Mommas food-bowl. Adorable!
sounds like they had a blast. lol
