Clever. Great that you included your paper plans.

I'd like to know how it held up in actual use, especially if the duct tape held in up to moisture and dust during the brooding period.

Solid look at the pros and cons as the title promises.

More photos of different coops and tractors would have been helpful.

Spacious and well-ventilated -- very important!

More build photos and plans would be helpful.

I would like to note that though the 3-foot width seems to make inefficient use of the plywood it is great for this purpose because people of average height will be able to reach the far wall.

A nice overview of different options for getting your first chickens with plenty of informative links to help the reader figure things out.

My only quibble is that I believe the one should begin with the housing, not the birds themselves. :)

Clever and spacious. I particularly like the heat boxes and the ability to divide it. It would have been great to see the chicken wire top in place to understand how it was made.

I'm a little concerned about the contact paper, which is likely to be slippery and could contribute to splayed legs.

Interesting concept with good photos as far as it goes, but I think I would have to know a lot more about raising BSL in order to understand what's happening and why it works. Links to other articles would have been helpful.

Creative use of space for brooding just a few chicks. Raising them in the coop makes everything easier.

Very nice DIY builds. Great to have a gravity waterer that can fill from the top.

Nice way of giving chicks a reasonable amount of room while they're still small, but you're going to want a lid on that in a couple weeks when they start to fly. :D

The wire rings to hold the light and the wire divider are creative, but the brooder is very small and not well-ventilated.

Using the dimmer and the smaller bulb is good, but this brooder is tiny and ill-ventilated. :(

This article is useful as far as it goes, but it doesn't go very far into pros, cons, space needs, housing needs, brooding needs, etc. 1/8 acre for a dozen turkeys doesn't translate well into either "A couple BB meat birds to harvest for the holidays" or "A breeding pair (trio? ??? -- what is the usual male-to-female ratio anyway?), and their offspring for sustainable harvesting."

More depth and detail could be added to make this article more helpful.

Without being able to see how it was fastened together and how big the holes are it would be difficult to duplicate this feeder.

Well-explained. Good information to have on hand if I ever have chicks in a situation where I could lose electric power.
