There's a LOT of information, here. It's a bit tough to get through, but important enough to read all the way to the end. Thanks!

This is a really sweet little coop - "sweet" as in "really nice" not just "cute." I would love to see some text to go along with the great pictures. And maybe some notes on how you leak-proofed the lift-flaps on such a steeply pitched roof. I really like this idea - and may adapt it as a lean-to on my own set-up. Details? Please?

You've got a good start, here. We'll be waiting to see updates and more pics as things progress. I wish I could start over again with a shed. Our playhouse is fun and functional, but not nearly big enough!

Update Edit - Wow! This is beautiful! I love the re-purposed cabinets as a brooder & nest boxes. We are redoing a few cabinets in the kitchen ... and guess where the old ones are going, now? Thanks for the inspiration ... and keep it coming, please!

I need to try this! Our chickens are very small bantams, so feeders can be problematic. Those designed for chicks are too small - both in access and capacity. Most designed for standard fowl are either too large (and my biddies can climb in the openings) or the access is too long for their little necks to use efficiently. This design allows for adjustments ... so it just might work! Thanks for the clear instructions and pictures!

Very easy to adapt to any size. You can use small fittings easily. If I made one for chicks I might try 1 1/2" or 2" street 90's.

I can't wait to see how this all develops! I had a cat who used to write letters to a little friend in our local cancer ward, so I'm particularly fond of animal-told, "real life" adventures. Good luck with your babies. I can't wait!

That's amazing! I love that your cat took the time to cheer up someone who needed it! <3 Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

This is a beautiful coop and run set-up. Very nicely done. A few interior pics and some dimensions or other details to help someone replicate it would be a real plus.

What a great idea! I definitely think the fan is a good plan, if only to avoid having "instant roast chicken" this summer. When you build your run, be sure to use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire, though. Chicken wire only keeps chickens in. It does NOT keep predators out!
I really like the idea of a converted greenhouse. Please post pics when you can. I can't wait to see them!

Nice coop! I really like the split interior, with a "people side" as well as a large space for your birds. Once this all weathers to match, it's going to be a beautiful building!

Thanks , I used some old boards I had laying around for the one side that is darker plus a door I had on hand.
Yes, I have plenty of people side space as I was going to use part for storage garden tools etc. the building also has a loft area above the coop plus a little more (half the building or 8x8 area)for more storage.

Not a bad start. You may want to clarify the note about hosing out the coop. Hosing in winter can be dangerous, as it adds a lot of extra moisture that may not dry out well in the colder weather. Cold + moisture makes frostbite ... and that can be awful!

This is a great idea and your pictorial is a great way to show it off. There are lots of tips on building for warmer areas - and good ideas for "coop-scaping" with vines and trees.
We did a similar thing with our playhouse, but without the swingset run. Instead, we took out the kiddie swings and are waiting on Spring to build a garden bench swing so we can watch more chicken-TV. There are so many things you can do when you take over the kids' playhouse and make it yours!

This is a beautifully designed and well thought out coop. I would love to see some plans and diagrams, especially for placement and attachment of the center support pole. I LOVE this coop!

Thank you for this. It's really hard to find good info on how to deal positively with an aggressive rooster. Most advice begins and ends with, "Off with his head!" While that is always an option, it's not always the best one ... for anyone, including (and especially) the roo! I currently have nine roosters, with six in a bachelor coop and run. While most have needed a lesson or two along the way, there is only one that even needs a reminder, these days - and that usually involves simply glaring at him and stomping once in his direction. For now, at least, we have peace!
