The is a composite of many coop conversions. It contains useful links to converted sheds and outbuildings, each in a different style. It's a great starting point for anyone looking to convert an existing structure to a coop.

The list is long and comprehensive - a good guide for what is and is not safe to feed your chickens.
This article has some interesting historical facts about our favorite little birds. It sounds like the first "Legal-Eagle" was actually a chicken!

What a great job - on both the coop AND the article. Lots of description, lots of good pictures ... and lots of recycled material. This coop belongs in the thread "What have you recycled." It's a recycling masterpiece!

"Dumb" isn't always relevant. I have a few that make up for their lack of intelligence by having lots of personality. It sounds like your Golde is one of them. I'll take "sweet" over "smart" any day!

This is a nice start, both on he coop and the article. Some descriptive text about how the coop and run are put together would be helpful. Info on dimensions, predator proofing, overall design and how it meets your needs (or what you'd like to do to improve it) would be a big help, both to people wanting to set up their own coops and to people who may want to offer some tips.

What a great theme! Lots of good pics, and the narrative just plain makes me smile. The red and blue swabby stripes on the side are a nice touch .. very "pirate-y!" But I have ta ask ... what did that poor hen do that she has to walk the plank?

ps - Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your vented windows should be fine. They're above the hens' heads, and so is your roof ventilation, so any draft should pull upward, not down into the coop.

This is good stuff for the science and teaching community, but just as good for the environmentally aware and science-minded backyard poultry keeper. Diagrams are clear and easy to follow. My one suggestion is to run it through a human proof-reader. Spell checkers often miss properly spelled, but misused words ... like "their" in the first paragraph.
All in all, a good poster. Nicely done!

Nice start ... but if it continues along the same vein, maybe it should be "How NOT to Name a Chicken!" (giggle, giggle!!)

This would be wonderful with some text descriptions and more pictures. If there aren't any of the actual build, then maybe a historical "before" shot and a description of what was done to convert it - even if that just means interior pics and some text on what's there now. Renovating and updating buildings with real history is always fascinating. Please share this wonderful old building's story with us!

Very short, sweet and to the point discussion of the pros and cons of the classic Broody vs Incubator decision. And a real bonus - the pictures are wonderful!

Very, very nice. Some info on what was done to make it worthy of a Wisconsin winter would be very helpful for those of us fighting cold temps.

A nice way to build an affordable coop. Notes on ventilation are good - and the ease of construction is a real plus. In areas where dogs, coyotes or other strong "chewers" abound, the resin may be an issue. A ground-level border of hardware cloth or wire fencing around the lower portion may be a good idea.

Yes. The hardware cloth along the bottom is in the plans. I have to work on placement of additional vents, and just what to make them from. I may need to order some $20 windows so there is some structure around the hole. Thanks for your input!

This is a fun article, but bouncing back and forth on the Mars references make it a bit of a tough read. It will be interesting to see how the "terraforming" pans out in the longer term. Sounds like a good start!
