This is Eggcellent! Most people (BYC community aside!) really don't understand where their food comes from, so this is a great educational tool. Every 4H Fair should have a copy of your poster hanging around the poultry barns ... Have you considered making it a full-blown "official" ad poster? I'll bet your Extension Service would know how to get it started!

I haven't considered that before, maybe I will someday. Thanks for the suggestion and review!

Perfect Timing! I have a very small coop in one of my bantam bachelor runs, and while it has enough ventilation, it's so dark that my boys avoid it like the plague. Worse, there isn't an easy way to add a window without screwing up the existing ventilation. Then this article came out ... and voila, the perfect solution! With Old Man Winter right around the corner, my boys thank you from the tips of their beaks to the ends of their sickle feathers ... and so do I, minus the feathers and beaks, of course!

This is a really cute, nicely done set-up. They'll likely need a bigger run as they grow, or else a lot of free-range time, but the idea is sound and it looks really nice! I especially like the fact that you can share the space with them to watch your own "Duckie TV!"

Thank you! I'm a little scare of let them free range because once they flew over the fence ane of them was in the parking lot and the other one to a near by empty lot. I was scare something bad happens to them! But Yes it's a little backyard with a little Duck Coop and a little chicken coop and we can enjoy duck tv & chicken tv from our little gazebo!

Why can't I give this article 50 stars?
I can't, so I'll give you all a warning, instead. Do NOT read this unless you have:
  1. Already used "the facilities"
  2. Put down your coffee, soda, drink of any kind
  3. Have something to take when your head starts hurting or when that stitch in your side gets unbearable.
  4. A tissue ... or two ... or three.
I do have to point out a possible "degree of error" in the answer key. If all of those chickens have names ... wouldn't your count still be "ZERO?"
BaaKaaawk
BaaKaaawk
MROO- excellent observation. Yes if all of those chickens were named they would not count. However, don't forget the golden rule you always have to have at least one chicken. So you can just reply "yes, I have one chicken". :)

This is a GREAT resource! Scientific data supporting the warning is well documented. My only concern is that not everyone can read the technicalities. A clear, up-front summary sentence, written in "layman's terms" would be extremely helpful for those of us whose eyes glaze over on technical jargon!
Thank you for this article. Nicely Done!

Hmm, I thought I'd eliminated all the really mind-bending terminology, but now that I look at it again I do see that some stuff might require other outside sources of knowledge to understand. Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to make it clearer.

The information here is really good, but the typo, grammatical and punctuation errors make it awkward to read and somewhat confusing - as in "Therefore opinions are too toxic."
A good proof read would make this an absolutely excellent article, as the information offered is detailed and important to know!

This looks great! The only real concern I see is the "crack" at roost level, which could cause a nasty draft in a bad spot if your winters are cold. How did you handle predator proofing for this? Chicken wire really only keeps chickens in, not predators out ... unless those two, big four-legged beauties are LGC ... Livestock Guardian Calves!
Very nice conversion!

Excellent! This is well thought out, well planned and well executed ... both the set-up and the article. The tips on "What to Do Differently" are extremely helpful. That's the second rule of chicken keeping, second only to "Beware Chicken Math." Rule #2 is just as stated here ..."Go BIGGER than you think you'll need." Always!
VERY Nicely Done!

This is a great idea for a brooder. The clear sides don't just let people see in, they let the peeps see everything going on around them. They should be less likely to spook at people, later on. There's not much text to the article, itself, but the pictures are good enough that it really isn't missed.
Nice job!
