Thank you for this. You rightly predicted this would calm me down. I found the study and if I take outbreaks as the data point (rather than individual chickens) then the within 2 standard deviations takes me to 26 days. The end point in the study is however a bit unclear so if I use reduced egg production as a proxy for 'unwellness' then the 2 standard deviation point is 34 days (excluding an outlier of 42 days).
It is not brilliant data but I am going to keep 26 and 34 days in my head as a motivator!
Wonderful, I'm glad I could be of minute service. ❤️

I think this gives a more realistic time-line, so you aren't overly worried at the mean date..as, honestly, the mean is pretty useless without the other data. I wouldn't worry unless she is at that 34 day mark and still no significant improvement. For now, focus (as you are) on getting nutrition into her so she has the energy to fight it! ❤️ I'm glad about the larger tubes, so you can get sufficient nutrition into her - that is hard work for a body fighting off invading 'armies'. I am also glad you didn't go into detail about the intended use. I just can't imagine....nor do I want to😳

[You go, Bella, we are all cheering for you! ]

Screaming Pullet

The craziest thing happened today while i was building the new door for the Cluckle Hut. I heard screaming by a chicken. I immediately looked around for a hawk. One had buzzed the yard on Friday flying across the yard less than 5 feet in the air. I was sure I had lost a bird.

Then I realized it was too high pitched for one of the big girls. It was a pullet scream. Much like Sylvie. 😥

But there was no way a hawk could get the pullets. They are in the big run with a roof and closed doors.

I ran to the run.

When I opened the door I saw the three of them huddled around my chair with Sydney on the outside looking in.

My first thought God forgive me was did Sydney somehow hurt one of them. As I got closer I saw the Lady Featherington and Glynda seemed fine but Gucci was on the ground.

Gucci was the one in trouble.

When I got to her I saw her struggling writhe her left wing. She had somehow gotten it wedged up into the hardware cloth. A quick examination and I had a way to extricate her. She was free in a moment and in her way seemingly unhurt.

Suffice it to say it was all very traumatic for me. I needed a moment to recompense myself before I started working on the door again.
Greg is brewing some whiskey or brandy I think! :old

Good afternoon everyone. I really appreciate all of everyone's prayers and concerns. It's funny how before the accident I was *toughing* out the show. After Rosie and Russ fell, I'm fine but my baby is hurt. After we got home we both died. She is very sore all over but it is tolerable. The long acting pain shot she got is keeping the edge off but she is high as a kite. She did not want the shot, but, I insisted. I know if she did not get it she would be constantly crying right now. I'm ok today, still a little sore but nothing like yesterday. Mom was in charge of my camera yesterday and she is not the best but I got a few good pictures and videos. I love this video, it was a few hours before the show started, Rosie is on Russ and her best friend is on her pacing pony. Look at them, there is nothing better then 2 best friends riding together. They were literally on the backs of their horses from 5 yesterday evening until the fall at 1:30 and laughing and smiling the whole time. As Rosie put it this morning it was a good show. She won 2 ribbons and a broken bone.

I’m back home with the chooks. They are pretty smart. They all want to be inside with me (it is 104f outside at the moment)
Xzit and Dakota are in the living room with me, the rest are in the chickens room. (House is cooler than outside)
And Dakota and Xzit are both perched on my legs.

My church friends all had prayer for you, Rosie and Russ too, today at service.

I am glad you are both OK relatively speaking. When does Rosie see the surgeon? Monday?
