Today's haul from the young'uns: (now 4 of the 9 are laying!)

For size comparison, BCM's first egg between 2 standard size hen eggs:

for another comparison:

the 2 standard size hen eggs from above, next to one of my super huge eggs (I have 2 girls that have started laying these whoppers this year...the 2 girls are 3 & 4 respectively. One hen lays 1-2 a week, but shells are thinner, so might actually collect 1. This girl (egg shown below) usually lays 2 of these a week. Occasionally 1 regular and one of these whoppers. Both girl's whopper eggs are always double yolkers. They rarely laid double yolkers prior to this year! (I wish they wouldn't,I grimace each time I see one of these...can't be good nor comfortable to lay eggs this size! Barely fit into Jumbo size egg cartons that I have for my duck eggs!!!:(

I hear crows cawing. Look up....(pic after the fact: had to get around the trees)View attachment 3263951

I've never seen this many in 1 group. Not sure if the pic will some enough to capture, but I counted 35 (that's THIRTY-FIVE) crows. The terms murder of crows or muster of crows gives new meaning. They were heading south, in very loose goose formations with lots of outflyers (outriders). That many together is a serious force of nature to face should they choose.

The boys all watched until it was clear they were not stopping off.
Wow beautiful photos, we have a lot of crows here, I like them around they harass the raptors that flay around here, alerting the chickens to danger.
