I can’t stop laughing at this. But it isn’t funny.
This post is dedicated to @Kris5902 who I am sure could help out in this situation given her goat experience.

And for tax I bring you Diana helping select roof tiles for the Chicken Palace back in 2019

Hmmm, I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to, instead of castrating the males, giving the females the equivalent of a depo type shot, or the 'under the skin' hormone releasing system they use for humans (but adapting it for hippos) While I realize these are totally different animals...they have done something similar in some areas for feral cats.
Much less invasive, and only needing a local anesthetic. I read once about darts with similar hormones once used for larger animals...will have to research later to see if i can find what/how was used on......for some reason, i am thinking wild horses somewhere....but I am 100% NOT sure on that...it was definitely a LONG time ago tht this was read....and brain is way to cluttered to recall without the possibility of co-mingling random things! 🤪 :lau😜

My version of @Kris5902 's 'Hoppy'...could only get a side view as she would kinda twist on her one leg when I moved the camera (and me) around to her backside, and didn't want to stress her (that one pic was very blurry as she kinds went down from losing her balance trying to 'follow' me.

she is doing well and is a fighter :)

Happy FRIDAY/FRI-YAY! everyone!

And thanks for being such a wonderful & supportive group🥰

Wow problem hippos! Who would have thought! But then it’s very common in say Florida to see chickens running wild! Any place that animals can find a niche they will take advantage of it.

Wild Tax
Bet my kiddos would love to be running wild!

Especially Key West has free roaming chickens.

Inquiring minds want to know...which one did she settle on??? Natural or 'aged', narrow or wide???
She went with Natural. The widths don't matter because each pallet comes with a mix of widths. They are made from recycled milk and juice containers and look for all the world like real cedar shakes.
My house still has its original cedar shake roof so I wanted the Chicken Palace (which is very close to the house) to match, but Cedar needs maintenance with an oil that I was worried would be toxic to chickens, so I went for this recycled plastic stuff.
I have to say it honestly looks better than 'the real thing' on the house! And as an obsessive re-user I have found endless uses for the 'scrap' pieces left over!

Not-really-cedar-roof tax. The Chicken Palace showing the roof with a bit of the house roof too (can anyone spot the hidden chicken?), and baby Lulu and Bella.
