The gray chicken in the back is like, "Is it going to snow again? I don't want my feetsies cold."
That’s Whiskers, going through a molt! But yep she is not a fan of snow!
We have more voles outside, but it is always mice that get into the house! I do see the little footprints in the snow in the run, so yes they're there. I wouldn't mind if it took care of some of those! It's really a gorgeous owl.
My husband took another photo of it today:

@BY Bob it has spotty feathers like Lady F!

That chicken under "Bobcat tax" is playing the back of what looks like a xylophone? Innovative John Cage* approach...

"John Milton Cage Jr. was an American composer and music theorist. A pioneer of indeterminacy in music, electroacoustic music, and non-standard use of musical instruments, Cage was one of the leading figures of the post-war avant-garde"

Wow, she has a musical genius in her flock. Maybe she can record an album!

If you have identified the owl correctly it feels like there is not a lot to worry about. Here is what I can find regarding their prey.

Prey Items are mainly small rodents, especially Voles. They also eat lemmings, shrews, mice, and moles. They occasionally take small birds, squirrels, bats, frogs and beetles.

If I had batams or young pullets/chicks I might be worried but I don't think they will take on an orpington for example.
😓 Phew, Hattie is safe

Congratulations. Now you just need to roughly sell about 999 more dozen to even begin to hope to break even with your initial start up costs on raising chickens. Lets not look at it that way though. Depending on your egg price, let us say if you can sell 3 dozen a week we can say they the girls are paying for themselves now. If you turn around and invest the egg money into your feed bill that is.
At one point I was getting 4 doz a week, and they were not only covering their own feed, but the horses also! I told the horses that they needed to step up their game and start paying their way!

Only problem is instead of chicken eggs, I was getting road apples! :lau

QUESTION

Well - the fridge door in my well-site here at work didn't close properly and the fridge became very warm inside, I have pitched the dairy items, but I am wondering about the eggs, I know people in many countries do not refrigerate eggs, but do you think mine are ok to put back into the fridge? I was going to boil them all up as hard boiled eggs but I don't want to eat so many eggs.

They were quite warm - what do you all think? I did throw them back in the fridge, but that fridge must have been opened from around 6am till 5pm.... darn cheap fridges! Now I know why many fridges have warning buzzers when the door is open too long! I will never whine about those buzzers again!
