How mucky does it get? I can't remember seeing a photo of it.

She is on the far right in both pictures below. I think it is very bad.

Mine (fat as they are) still make the 8 foot jump from the rafters every day. If my rafters were higher up, the chooks would climb higher up too.

Do they fly up the 8’, or are there ladders or intermediate launching pads?

She is very pretty I really like that colouring. What colour egg does she lay?

I am really liking them with their feathered feet (remind me of Ptarmigan haha!).

The heat would be the one thing that I worry about - it gets very hot and steamy here in the summer. Last summer I was tempted to get one of those portable AC units for the Hen House they were all just sweltering - I have the large fan just blasting air in their roost - I was afraid it would blow the poor Silkies off their roost hahahahahaha!

I am seriously looking at one of the units, and think rather than my getting StarLink - I will get my guys an AC unit instead.

Isabella lays a cream coloured egg that has little speckles sometimes. She is my least productive hen. She laid 98 eggs in 2022, mostly because she really took her time getting started again after her winter break.

She is not very agile at all. She has to do a big flap to get up on things the others just hop up on, possibly similar to a silky?

Anyway, I ended up with her due to a mixup at the place I got my chicks from, but I am so glad because she is a wonderful hen.

Yes I have stuff half way up, but they only go up with them. Coming down is a landing procedure.

That one picture is just crazy! The first time I saw it I howled with laughter! Not sure what the heck it looks like but it sure is a crazy photo - good catch on that one!

Hmmm strange how it's dark, not white with nitrates.

Did you ever get a fecal done on her? See if there are any bacteria or parasites at play? She certainly looks healthy and glossy!
