My roosts are at 4', but that one top of the nest box is over 5'. No one flies down from it, Mr P fell off it one day - and I was watching the camera when it happened. He was showing Misty (I think it was) where to lay an egg, he was eggcitedly, scratching and pecking and showing her the top of the nest box.I am seriously thinking about taking down the top roost, which would leave the highest one at about 4 feet. Easier to check on them and to clean it. I had to put that top one at first when I was tempting them away from the electrical conduit. But the bigger they get the less I like them jump/flying down from that high.
Yes! What is with that! Even that brat Curly who flies like crap wants to go way up high! At least she has tried to launch herself off into the abyss like Marty does hahaha!Mine (fat as they are) still make the 8 foot jump from the rafters every day. If my rafters were higher up, the chooks would climb higher up too.![]()

Most of my gang will use the steps I made for them, thankfully! Mum helps Penelope down, she is getting old now and doesn't seem to be able to hop down very well. There is a ramp all the way up to the rafters also, rarely used by them.
That looks like a damn dodge ram crack!Bear!
This was a project I was on a few years ago - I would go for a run down that road daily, and most days the guys would say 'did you see the bear in the ditch?'.... I never did and wouldn't believe them - until I saw it myself haha!
My camera in my truck - like my cracked windshield?!

Thank you. Blueberry is one of my dad's 2 personal hens as he puts it. She and Squirrel are not allowed to go anywhere. We can now say he has 3 personal hens. I planned the minute Ducky hatched to keep her if she was a pullet in October due to her blue coloring. Thankfully she is indeed a girl and is going to look just like her momma Blueberry. So much so that dad has taken notice of her in the last week and dared me to get rid of her she was his.Blueberry is so pretty and cute!!
