My chickens would have an amazing life if I won the lottery!

Chiquita looks sooooo content! And the chatty chicks! Are they getting to venture forth with mama and Papa Branch yet?
They are so adorable, that I just have baby fever now.

I called the Spring Valley Hatchery here in AB, and we had a lovely chat, she isn't offering any of the Silver Spangle Hamburgs, but knows a lady who does have them, but she has the Neidemier or however you spell it ones. If they are auto-sexing I wouldn't mind a couple of them.

She has Whiting True Blues, but they aren't auto-sexing so I am leary of getting Roos, I told her I would like Legbars and I think she has some of those they are auto-sexing. Anyways I am going to send her an email with what I am looking for.

This lady wasn't very impressed with my idea of driving home with them... I feel it would be fine, they are so small that a small crate with a brooder plate would be fine for them. It's not like I am getting 40 of them! I think shipping they by mail is worse that my bringing them home with my full attention on them...

I haven't heard back from the place in Manitoba yet...

Boy oh boy - the enabling going on here - tsk tsk tsk....

I should be more specific on this.

Yes, i still have some questions left but they have not inspired me to answer yet and I fear they may not in the future. There is only so many ways Aurora can advise other chickens on how to gain power and position.
So in other words beautiful chickies, you need to get out and about, and you need to find out weird and wonderful things that Aurora can research and get her Royal little claws into!

As mere Human I suggest checking out the Human Royals for some ideas - if there is any group of Humans that strive to be like Royal Chickens it is Human Royals....

I look forward to everyones creativity! And if anyone requires a private read through I am willing to assist with the help of Old Penelope of course!

Dear Aurora,
I am exhausted. My name is Eli and I am only a very small chicken and know I will never be top chicken (though I am working on a magnificent beard).
I am OK with that, but I need your help on how I can get a decent night's sleep. I know you have a very demanding job keeping all the other chickens in their place and I am sure you must have mastered the art of managing your own wellbeing, and I can see from your photos that you look very youthful and energetic (particularly when there are blueberries available) and therefore I believe you must be getting enough sleep.
Here is my problem. I live with two other chickens. One I have known from hatch (Babs) and one who I think follows your advice closely (Bernadette). And come bed time those two get all riled up and there is so much noise and flying back and forth that I cannot get any rest.
It takes for forever for them to settle down and we always end up in the same places anyway with me and Babs up in the rafters, and Bernie over by the heater (which looks like a very nice place by the way), so why all the fuss?
Why can't Bernie and Babs just accept that is where we will all end up and go straight there? Why does Bernie need to fly where Babs is so that Babs flies where I am and I have to fly somewhere else? And why do they have to do that over, and over, and over again? And, why do they have to make such a racket while they do it? Honestly the lungs on Babs and Bernadette is quite astonishing to me (I tend to squeak just a little).
To give you a sense of how much of a problem this is, twice now I have been forced to bed down in random places because the running around has gone on for so long that it got too dark for me to see to get up to the rafters.
I would really appreciate your advice on how to get more shut-eye. As the days get longer my issue will only get worse and I really, really need my beauty sleep - I can feel the bags around my eyes getting bigger with each passing day!
Yours,
Eli (severely sleep deprived)

Dear Aurora,

Thank you, you are right I am their better. Well, Raven keeps whispering to me just wait, when she is laying about once a month she decides she is special and turns her eggs purple. I will have to see it to believe it, besides, I have gotten into the habit of laying a pink egg every other day. I figure roughly 15 pink eggs to 1 purple egg a month makes me her better. I wish laying pink eggs automatically made me Queen but alas that title belongs to Butter. Some of us may wish to challenge her but we know better. Butter has the humans mom on her side. There is threats from her that any Butter bullies could be rehomed if we did not give it up. As a group we decided that we like it here and it is not worth the risk to see if she means it. I shall just have to resign myself that as you say, pink eggs makes one superior. My human read your reply about a professional photographer. She snorted and said the day she could get 10 a dozen for our eggs she will think about it. Until then she promised to keep trying to capture my pink eggs. That will have to do for now I guess.

Yours Truly,
The pink egg queen.
Magnificent! :gig :lau:gig:lau

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you guys but here are photos.
Also, did I miss @lightm's birthday? Happy belated birthday.

Cute photos. But is the standing white chicken OK? Her body language concerns me.
