Shoot, I just realized this didn’t post and now it’s past midnight. Let’s pretend it’s still Friday.

Happy Friday! These are photos I took after work today. I left a little early so the chickens could have a little bit of time to run around since it’s going to rain all weekend.

Yes that’s what I’ve done.

Maybe it’s not the temp approaching (-18 F now) but mostly the wind and blowing snow, and the wire of the runs interfering? I’ll measure tomorrow but the base unit is around 30-40 feet? away from the cameras, looking out a big window at the coop and run.
Okay actually to bed! Chiquitas letter was great @RebeccaBoyd ! How is Rosie doing with the Covid?
Two of my cameras have gone down. I assume it is the cold as they are close to the unit and charged.

Edited: It seems to be the batteries that can’t cope with the cold.

So this notice came up this morning

It usually shows a previous picture before refreshing and becoming current. But now I've got that and the notice about the cold

The base unit this morning is flashing orange. It was blue last night. I rebooted it now but it's orange still, probably meaning the cold notice. It is -22.5F now.

That is cold. Just saying. We got to about 0F and I do not need to experience that again thank you!

Wow that sure is chilly! Hopefully this cold snap doesn't last long.

It was -29C around midnight last night but now it's -22C back home; hope it will get mild fast!

My kiddos seem to be ok - they are snoozing, preening.... Not sure where Fluffy went though!.

Beautiful chicks. Hopefully our genetics guru's on here can comment about their head spots. I know the size and shape of the spot can indicate whether you have boys or girls.
That would be for true full BRs*, boys have a much larger spot on the head, girls have a narrower spot. For mixed breeds like these, it would depend on what it is mixed with.

* It is about 80% accurate using this method.*
