So glad that you are getting good results from you and your team's hard work. :thumbsup.

I hope you're getting recognition as well and that management has learned to take on your recommendations!

Congratulations to you and your team Bob!

P.S.

Are you and your team not being paid for your work? That just sounds wrong! :rant:th
I was recently offered a fantastic growth opportunity, only one person in the world is invited to take it on but it's unpaid. However it supports the entire profession around the world. My workplace said "we can't pay you for that."

Of course, I'm still going to do it but I'll have less free time. Although I'm secretly scheming to use up a few long service leave and personal leave days, as well as leaning on the union to get these kinds of service commitments acknowledged in workloads.

Long story, short: I'm not at all surprised Bob and his team of researchers are working without pay. Open the door of many workplaces and you see the same thing.

These are the people who move problems the size of mountains out of the way so everyone else can benefit.

Thank you Bob and your team.

How to Measure Success

I'm going to switch from chickens for a moment and reflect on a personal note.
I have from time to time mentioned how crazy my work has been since COVID reached the US. My team has been working with the CDC and pharmaceutical companies non-stop without any of the needed infrastructure (that I had been trying to get in place) ready.

Nevertheless they have succeeded. They were able to provide key information to assist at critical times. In the past week, the results have started to role in. They have been rewarded by having all 7 of their manuscripts accepted. This includes 2 of the largest COVID studies ever performed.

Additionally today we received the first of 3 anticipated contracts where we will actually be paid for all their hard work for the first time since COVID hit. Hopefully this will enable me to get them the help they deserve.

So much of this year I have been teetering on the edge struggling to find time. Time to get the work done, time to keep up the house, time to just relax and spend with the ladies. The whole team has had the same struggles. But what the team has done has saved lives and will save lives in the future. I could not be more proud of them. 😊
Bob, I'd love to read the papers. Can you share the refs in due course?

Well that just grinds my gears .

I hate the idea of being taken advantage of just because it's something you love doing or because it's a great opportunity. Aaaargh! Management! :he

Sorry, rant over.

That said, to those who do the hard yards like you and Bob :bow:bow

And now for something completely different...

It's a Shadrach original. :ya

Shad was very patient with my many questions and requests. The finished piece is very organic and tactile and includes the hidden slate paste art! I love it! 💕

Thank you Shad.

And because this is ByBob's thread I have included a gratuitous shot of Tsuki.

"It's a sculpture of me isn't it? Shad has captured my wonderful curves. Bakawk!"

A lot of what we did was for the good of humans especially early for COVID. Luckily my company understands that. Of course I made promises that funding would come later. Everyone needed our help and no one had budget set aside for a pandemic. So we dug in and helped out under the assumption that funding would come later. No guarantees of course. That's why it was so good that I finally got some funding yesterday.

Of course, now my management is on me to secure more funding. I will because that's what I do but it felt good to get something signed for everyone.

I'm excited for you MJ to take a project that helps your profession like that. They can be the most rewarding things you do in your career. Congrats.

I figured you might. In fact I was torn whether to just message you about everything or share it with everyone. Of course I will share the references. As soon as they are made public I will share them.

Is anyone else interested in reading them?

It is spectacular! I'm so happy for you. These are such a joy to have. :wee:wee

@Shadrach you have out done yourself. Beautiful. The hidden slate is inspired. We are all so lucky to know you.

I love the shot of Tuski. I don't know how you got her to cooperate but I haven't seen her in so long that I'm very grateful.

Oh, I understand that and kudos to you and your team for doing it Bob. It's just....you guys need to eat as well you know? I'm glad they were able to find funding for you.

I'd be interested in having a peek too once they are public please.
