You have seen video of Aurora pulling someone down off of the high roost in my coop. I did nothing. It was much more violent than that.

The following is all my opinion based upon my observations. It frankly is all I have to go on.
They must figure it out themselves. It can be very nasty. There is really nothing you can or should do aside from breaking up something where blood is drawn.
Thank you - I know that, I think I just need reassuring! I will go and inspect the young ladies for blood - but I am 99% sure they are fine - they are now zipping around the Palace being annoying to everyone as usual!

Bad temper in the Palace
I am still getting used to this whole aggression thing. This was Maggie being bad tempered with the little ones as everyone woke up this morning.
It doesn't seem too bad to me. Do you agree. I am still hoping they just sort it out themselves. But if anyone thinks I should be doing more to keep them apart or anything I would welcome the advice. It looks to me like a grumpy slap not outright trying to kill them.
What do you think?

Just a grumpy chick who hasn't had her morning coffee yet!! :lau

That all looks very normal. I don't think Maggie liked her being above her head.

Do chickens ever lay eggs while asleep? Lately we've been finding eggs directly beneath where Maryanne sleeps. I guess that would be ok except we all know what else tends to accumulate right beneath where chickens sleep. :barnie

Sometimes they do lay while they're on the roost. They think they can hold the egg until the next morning, but then it just comes out while they're sleeping. :gig

Funny you should say that about morning coffee - I just started experimenting with coffee grounds as bedding under the roost! Starbucks give them away for free to gardeners for compost and they seem like quite good bedding and are nice smelling. I believe TSC even sell coffee ground bedding - but mine was just grabbed for free at Starbucks.
I think what irritated Maggie was the first young lady who flew down right in front of her (I can't tell who it was from the video). They do that a lot. I would find it annoying too!

Yes that can happen. Some hens are better at holding it all night than others.
