Your silkies are what 3 or 4 weeks older then mine? Mine will be 5 weeks old this weekend so yours have to be coming on 8 or 9 weeks right. In about 2 more weeks you can start looking at their tails to get a guess. Similar to polish and their crests. Rounded neat tails pullets, wild and disheveled tails boys.

June 1st, so that is 7 weeks I guess.

Both seem to have round fluffy balls for tails at the moment.

Lucky! Your hens eat ants! I have so many ants and I always try to get them to eat the ants, but they pretend there blind and look at me like I should eat them!

Mine also ignore ants.

Hubby has brought home another of those lovely wood crates. A coworker took the other two to sell on marketplace, which is fine. We'll be able to make something nice with the two we have. Hubby thinks we can use some of the steel shelving units we have to make the base for the coop.
He says we'll draw up some form of plans when we decide if we're splitting the flock or just having one rooster. He wants a bantam roo (I kind of do too) but my parents want a large fowl one. I...really want two roosters but I don't think it's possible with a covered run setup like we have.
