This goober escaped from the brooder and got bit by Kasumi. Managed to get a pic as the bleeding stopped but I used blue food coloring just to be safe.

They follow him wherever he wants them to go. Already! :love
But Rudy has rooster in him. He challenged me earlier today hackle feathers flaring and that “don’t tread on me!” Stare straight into my eyes. He’s young but he will learn from experience about us hoomans.

Cheeky boy. He will learn give him time. Drummie and Bubba had their moments as well. They liked to sneak up behind me and charge. They never advanced to spurring. They were not as sneaky as they thought, those big boys you could hear a mile away. I let them get close and swiftly turned, scooped them up and carried them like babies as I went about my way. Drummie loved it, Bubba, well, Bubba decided being held was not for him so he only done it twice.

That is so heartbreaking! Sweet Bubba! ❤️

Still, one would think an antibiotic would've halted the spreading red infection? I'm not a poultry vet but I do know there is an antibiotic that is available when bumblefoot infections happen ~ just don't recall the med?!

I am so queasy when there is injury or suffering that I make a pest of myself with medical establishments. I've made up to 5 trips back to a vet when I wasn't satisfied with the surgery or treatment of one of my bumblefoot birds!

If I hadn't been a BYC lurker years ago I would never been aware of the different evidences of bumblefoot. BYC articles/discussions made me aware to catch bumblefoot years later when a couple hens got it. I eventually learned to treat it myself with a later bird with my vet's good instructions.
Abscesses are walled off areas of infection, the antibiotic won’t fix that. The abcess and infected material would need to be debrided to leave healthy tissue. Antibiotics could then be used to prevent further infection.

The problem is when the infection infiltrates too much tissue, then it’s impossible to remove it. This is what sometime we hear of people having a limb removed when it becomes infected 😢

Oh she is a cutie pie ♥️ - stripes and wattles how adorable. Bobs other polish Betty was a cuckoo pattern frizzle. Very gorgeous.

Mr LC is now terrorizing Laverne! I am surprised Curly didn’t clobber him last night. I think she was confused by him grabbing and dragging poor Laverne, anyways Laverne was able to get away.

He is a terror! He still tries to have his ways with my hand 🤭 but he hasn’t been aggressive at all towards me.
