You were very lucky ! Get well soon !***WARNING - GRAPHIC EYE PHOTOS***
I am utterly amazed at the human body’s ability to heal. I’m posting two photos, roughly 24 hours apart. The first photo was several hours after the injury. Seeing the damage is what prompted me to put the chickens in and seek medical advice/care. The second photo was just taken. I think there’s huge improvement! The abrasion has largely filled in already. Amazing!
Here come the photos. Stop viewing this post if you are eye squeamish.

I would rent a bigger tow behind that self feeds. I rented a midsize tow behind without self feed and I felt that was MORE dangerous because is was gravity fed and you had to push stuff into it. I used one of the bigger thicker pieces to ram stuff down. That said - It may be best to hire someone with equipment to come and do it for you.Love this comment! I was asking DH what renting a chipper entails. His answer? “Oh, Hon. Those are super dangerous.”
But I still want to rent one. LOL.
edited to add: when I asked what it entails, I simply meant do we need a hitch and trailer or can we bring it home in the back of an SUV.
Maybe subconsciously I got my thing for Claudine (Claudine!EEs come in all colors. Maleficent was nothing like Aurora and they were sisters! They lay eggs off all colors. Some even lay brown ones.
You will of course notice that Maleficent looks a lot like Claudine.......

They look pinkish..... hmmmm....yes, pink. Definitely pinkMy Obsessions
Aside from my true obsession with white chickens (leghorns especially) everyone knows I very much wanted colored eggs when I got Maleficent and Aurora. I try to call Aurora's eggs pink but we all know the truth. (Sometimes self delusion is not pretty). Why do I want colored eggs? Just look at what they would add to my "assortment".

That's a lot of pin feathers on Fudge. Ouch..ouch..ouch!This Fudge. She's in a bit of a state. I have no idea why but she has the most difficult moults of any chicken here. I just feel so sorry for her.
However, this year she is staying close to the tribe and for the last two nights when I've checked she's been wedged between the wall and Fat Bird.
She's been spending a lot of time with Fat Bird during this moult. I can't help wondering if Fat Bird looks after her in some way.

This Myth. I find it quite difficult to feel sorry for Myth about anything. She is by standards of behaviour here pretty unpleasant.
She looks not too bad in this picture but this year she had a more difficult moult than usual. She got tinned cod as an extra treat today, much to the disgust of the rest.

Bob, I speak "chikkin" so well they give me the eye like "she's a new breed and BIG!" My roosters sometimes mistake me for the hens when I cackle....lolI still don't speak rooster. I can't imagine how fast the flock would be with coffee!![]()
Now I'm picturing a stack of chickens like a stack of pancakes!
