I feel it’s a dominance thing, mine are very food motivated - not that I give lots of treats but they will follow me, peck at me and if I don’t give treats will eventually wander off.

Some will hop up onto my back when I and crouched down doing things like cleaning buckets. I am sure that is also a dominance action.

Oh that made me laugh. She looked very comfy up there.

I'm gonna vent here a little, but under a spoiler since it doesn't have anything to do with chickens. Feel free to skip over, I just need to let it out.

Sometimes being autistic is really, really hard.

I seem to be misunderstood constantly. When I get interested in a topic and want to explore deeper, look at it from as many angles as possible, and ask a lot of "but what if"s, because I'm curious and love learning, people tend to think I'm being a know-it-all, or preoccupied with "being right", when that's not the case.

Especially online, because tone and intent is hard to read over text. Misunderstandings happen a lot online for that reason. But I wish people wouldn't be so quick to jump to the defensive and even sometimes offensive.

When it comes to scientific topics, you're supposed to ask a lot of questions, aren't you? You're supposed to play devil's advocate, both with yourself and others, aren't you? I mean... That's literally how science works. We don't learn anything new if we don't challenge what we think we already know, and listen to opposing viewpoints.

This community has been overall nice and welcoming. But there seem to be some users (I've noticed that a lot of times they're people who have been here for years) who talk down to others. It just happened to me yesterday and it's been making me feel off, so. Yeah, I had to vent. I don't usually let this stuff get to me but occasionally it really busts through my armor.

Maybe I need PFM just so I can put "Autistic, please be patient" as my bio or whatever it is 😅 You know, the thingy under the username.

SOOO anyways. Chickie tax for that ❤️

Talk about Thirsty Thursday! I just filled that thing a few hours ago!
I used to get "called out" for being devil's advocate online, so I just stopped interacting with anything controversial. It sucks because I like to talk to people and see where they get certain opinions, but alas many just see it as picking a fight. Doesn't help that I trust people to have good intentions. So I can understand where you're coming from. 😌

The fall colors are coming in now, my house is surrounded by beauty.

Shep is looking more rumply, guess she's molting too.

Poor Liara is rough. But here you can see how much alike she and Cream look!

And one more autumn picture. I want to get a tri-color maple for my front yard. Or a big birch tree!

Dominica and Agathae will come inside and make a ruckus if I don't give them my lunch.

I wonder if he will get more white as he gets older, or more dark!

My splash hen Buttercup gets more grey each time she moults.
Yep, each moult is a surprise to me. Some of our Silkies would get different shades of color each year ~ sometimes darker, sometimes lighter? Always wondered if there's any vitamin or supplement to prevent premature greying of animal fur/feathers?!

Sorry you had that experience.
And thank you for more pictures of the lovely shelter. It really is a great hang-out for them.
Ah, it's alright, really. I'm still feeling bummed but I can't let it get to me too much. It was just an online interaction with a stranger, not like it was a fight with someone I have to see every day 😆 Thank you, though!

I'm so proud of that shelter and can't wait to finish it! I can't remember if I ever posted about the plans for all of the shelters we're going to make.

We want to do like a little medieval village. So that shelter that I've posted pics of, that will be (if I can figure out how to do it) a stone house with a thatch roof. I'm thinking we'll call it "Gytha's Inn and Tavern" or something like that. Another one will be a little witchy wooden shack down by the woods, Magrat's cottage. No solid plans for the others yet. I love the planning stage! I can let my imagination run wild!

Could it be that she takes the role of a rooster and doesn't approve you going to the other hens or getting too busy in "their" territory?
I do remember we had a lot of discussion when she was just a pullet about what could cause that, and there was no clear explanation.
Let's hope she never goes broody 😱
N
I too have a biter (full on attacks sometimes) and have never figured out why. Weirdly when she is broody she totally chills out. Generally she is much more relaxed when she isn't laying.
