Sometimes being autistic is really, really hard.
I seem to be misunderstood constantly. When I get interested in a topic and want to explore deeper, look at it from as many angles as possible, and ask a lot of "but what if"s, because I'm curious and love learning, people tend to think I'm being a know-it-all, or preoccupied with "being right", when that's not the case.
Especially online, because tone and intent is hard to read over text. Misunderstandings happen a lot online for that reason. But I wish people wouldn't be so quick to jump to the defensive and even sometimes offensive.
When it comes to scientific topics, you're
supposed to ask a lot of questions, aren't you? You're
supposed to play devil's advocate, both with yourself and others, aren't you? I mean... That's literally how science works. We don't learn anything new if we don't challenge what we
think we already know, and listen to opposing viewpoints.
This community has been overall nice and welcoming. But there seem to be some users (I've noticed that a lot of times they're people who have been here for years) who talk down to others. It just happened to me yesterday and it's been making me feel off, so. Yeah, I had to vent. I don't usually let this stuff get to me but occasionally it really busts through my armor.
Maybe I need PFM just so I can put "Autistic, please be patient" as my bio or whatever it is

You know, the thingy under the username.
