I set up two days worth of mixed pellets, their feeder holds 2 days so hopefully they don't overdose on them. 🤷
If I see they picked around them then tomorrow I will make some sweet mash with it and divide the flock into groups so I can be sure they've all been dosed. The liquid would have been easier I think but oh well.

Last night Versace. He's a gentleman and sits out here until the rest tuck into bed, but lately it's ended up too dark for him to see the doorway with his headpoof. So I give him a gentle stroke and turn my light so he can find the door and go to bed. Good fella.

He is so handsome!

Marie,

I'm sending many hugs your way. I'm sorry for the loss of your precious pup and for the loss of Princess. What you have had to do this weekend and Tuesday was unselfish acts of kindness. Both were also incredible acts of bravery as well. We all will miss Princess, none as much as you I know. Chickens are flock creatures but you did the very best for her after Tina died. You made it work and I am sure if it had been possible she would have lived the rest of her days as a much loved and happy lone hen. Princess's new home sounds wonderful. The poor Turkey next door, she does not know it yet, but Princess will be her best friend. I really hope in the future you are able to visit her. I also hope you can continue to receive regular updates on her for many more years to come. Our dear "Grumpy Chicken" deserves the absolute best.
Wonderfully written ♥️

I really hope Marie can get at least weekly updates! I love that turkey.

I am glad Rosie is feeling better.
And hope your tooth can be dealt with Monday.

Lastly - I am so looking forward to seeing the photos of the chicklets. My silkies are now 4 months and 23 days old (21 weeks) they hatched 01 June 2024. Clyde has been Cocorico-ing for at least a month now.

Thank you all for your understanding :hugs:hugs:hugs

I will have to wait for both a lift and one of their open days, these people are extremely busy every day.
The above video is recording the experiences a lovely couple had on Dean's Farm 6 years ago.
Mary, the founder is speaking at the beginning.

In this clip you will see 12 rescued battery hens, in very poor shape as they have just arrived a couple of donkeys, one can't get enough love, horses pig's 😀 they loved a lot of attention. Sheep and ducks.

This second clip is very short but beautiful 😍
I love pigs 😊♥️

I want sheep and goats and a donkey! And one of Kris’ battle cassowary 😉

(Gosh those two eat a LOT of sugar! Granola, fruity yogurt, fruit, cupcakes, ice cream 😳 now I am hungry!)

@Marie2020 ~ I almost cried what you've gone thru. So happy you found a sanctuary for Princess. It happened to us we had to rehome our rare Breda fowl "Char" after 4-1/2 years w/us. Never easy to give up a friend :hugs

13+yrs saga cont (2020) I delayed this saga cuz its bittersweet to remember it:

Char was over 7-1/2 lbs & bullied our 2-lb Silkie Violet. The Dominiques were protectors of Violet & put Char in her place if she bullied but after losing 2 out of our 3 protective Dominiques, Violet was getting more harassed by Char.

Our vegetarian rescue friend was moving her rescue farm out-of-state in December 2020 ~ she had taken in another chicken from us years before & we had to decide quickly whether to give her Char cuz we felt no one else would be good enough for us to give up Char.

So, amid the 2020 Covid mask insanity our friend came to pick up our Char & she was thrilled to see how tame Char was w/people.

It was perfect timing to give up Char cuz we had 2 outdoor hens left ~ Dominique "Dana" & Silkie "Violet" w/ 2 new Silkie chicks "Suzu" & "Ginny" being raised in-house to eventually integrate outdoors & we couldn't risk Char to bully new Silkies. Char was a very large, tall, heavy bird & as the saying goes "doesn't play well with others."

Char was tame enough to be a house pet

Char w/ her new house friend. Little dogs seem to do well around chickens. @Marie2020 little dog proved that too.

With Char being a house chicken her feet feathers started growing back longer.

(2021) After rehoming Char DH & I re-affirmed our decision to keep an all-Silkies flock only. Since our Dominique Dana & Silkie Violet were pals outside while we were raising 2 new Silkie chicks to add to the backyard, we kept Dana cuz she was good w/the 3 Silkies.
