Ohhh, I L.O.V.E. this photo: it looks like their tails are merging! It makes me think of a silly song/verse my dad used to say:

Back to back we faced each other
Drew our swords and shot one another.

Hopefully they don't do that - nor peck each other!

I try to give my time to every chook. Especially the Rockettes lately because they are getting older now and require more attention than the youngsters

Bed time, so I thought. Somehow the coop door was closed and the five remaining chooks were locked out. They stood there waiting for me to open it. (Probably saying “you idiot, don’t you know that it’s our bed time?!”)
I’m a miserable squire!

To my defense, it’s a spring loaded door and one of the chooks probably tripped over the wedge holding it open. Anyway it’s done and they are all in for the night, and so am I! Good night

Dark times are upon me my friends. Shameful times.

This morning for the first time in years I had to run to the store to buy eggs!!!

Rosie has a friend over this weekend and they are baking a cake today. I did not know about this cake plan and sold my last dozen yesterday. I did not have an egg left in the house after making cornbread for dinner last night. My girls are a bunch of free loading molting slackers right now. I got 3 yesterday. Today if the pattern holds I will get 1 if I am lucky. Starting next week I am hoarding every single egg I collect for Thanksgiving baking.

Today to bake something I broke into the eggs I froze earlier in the summer when we had so many extra. I don’t have that many in there. We don’t have a big freezer, just the fridge freezer.

I’m in big trouble. I have been eating the Reeces peanut butter and chocolate cups that I bought for the Halloween trick-or-treaters.
Washed them down with whole milk. One thing, it’s too late for eating sugars like that, and I am lactose intolerant to an extent.
So I guess I deserve what I will feel tonight.
