Observations

I have been reading and hanging with the girls all day. I have notice 2 new behaviors and I'm not sure what to make of them completely. They involve Aurora and Phyllis individually

Phyllis has started to tidbit for the flock. I'm not certain what it is she finds but she called everyone at least 4 times this morning. Is she trying to make friends? I've seen both Hattie and Lilly respond to her tidbitting.

Now for Aurora. We had a strange moment today where after having laid her egg, Aurora walked over to where I was sitting, made some vocalizations, and nest built while standing next to my chair and looking at me after she placed each leaf on her back. I have no idea what this might mean.

What does everyone think?

I don’t know about Phyllis but might Aurora be going broody?

Well, Aurora is saying: Look here Rooster Man, you let that floosy, Sydney sit & raise chicks & she's only been here for a lick & a spit. I'm twice the woman she is so where's my eggs? Huh? Huh? How do you feel about raising more chicks, Bob?

Seriously ~ I have no idea.... :(

I think Aurora is definitely attention-seeking. But what she wants I have no idea!
I wonder if Phyllis is trying to make out she is able to operate at a higher level in the pecking order than she currently is by demonstrating her inner-roo?
I am so glad you got to spend the day with them.
I too have taken a lot of today off work and delivered a massive leaf pile to the Princesses. They clearly have no interest in my company because Christmas has come for them in the form of lots of wiggly gifts.
I brought 3 whole sacks of leaves and they have been at it for 3 hours making happy chirpy sounds as they comb through the pile.

Well, it seams Rocks-Anne and Jaffar are inseparable buddies now. Since Rocket has been gone (and pecking order has changed)
Those two stick with each other like glue!

I like how you volunteer Rich the way Mrs BY Bob volunteers me. 😉

You are very sweet and if it was real serious and I could not get there I would most certainly take you up on the offer.

A few more run improvements and it will only be slightly less safe than the coop. I made all of the major improvements after Maleficent's demise. Once they are done, I'll be able to relax a little (I hope) and work on behavior modification with Aurora.

Oh yes he loves when I offer him up to do things. :lau

He's now the fix-it man for my work. He really does enjoy doing things for others.

Very strange.

Does Aurora think you're the rooster?

I have a memory of someone saying roosters go to bed last. Is that true? If so maybe Aurora is trying to teach Phyllis to be a better rooster?

Anyway, overall I'd say Aurora is thinking the roosters in her flock need training.

Aurora is funny. She always continue to nest build when she leaves the nest box after laying usually just 1 or 2 steps. Today she came all the way to the magnolia tree and talked while she was doing it. That's truly odd.
