It amuses me that we occasionally feel we need to rearrange our girls roosting arrangements! I've been meddling recently in order to ensure my broody doesn't get straight in a nesting box.

So many times they do not know what is good for them. We must help them out.

It's Fluffy Butt Friday

Now that everyone has feathers again. A little morning mealworm treat and I have Fluffy but photos!

I'm thinking the last pic is Mal...it looks like she could use a bum wash! Maybe the littles need a spa day tomorrow.

The last one is actually Lilly. I thought about cleaning that butt but it has been so cold I wanted to hold off. Since it is going to rain tomorrow it may not make a difference so perhaps a bath is in order.

It is on like Donkey Kong

Lilly was back on the warpath tonight at roosting time. I could hear thumps from the other side of the pool so I flipped on the camera and caught her first throwing Hattie off of the roost (Hattie was in Lilly's spot) and then patrolling up and down the roost to keep Hattie from getting on it. I think I caught Lilly tossing her off around 3 or 4 times. Aurora gets up at one point while Lilly is patrolling but Lilly is so focused on Hattie that she really doesn't bother with her.

Unfortunately, things tend to flow downhill and you can see Hattie taking her frustrations out on Aurora when Lilly does finally let Hattie get up. The video is 7 minutes long because after she is knocked off by Hattie, Aurora takes a long time to finally find a spot to roost. She even left the coop and ate some more grass to kill time while things inside settled down.

If you look close at the beginning while the Lilly vs Hattie battle is going on you can see Maleficent peaking in the door trying to decide if it is safe to come in or not.

@Kris5902 I am sorry to post yet another interesting video while you have no data. Tomorrow night I will ask Lilly to be nice so there is nothing for me to film.
Janet is like that most nights :( But as Mary is so much larger, it has no impact. Once Mary is roosted, she's roosted and nothing Janet tries makes any difference. But poor Sandy is quite little, so she receives the worst of it. While I was in Melbourne, Sandy went back to her old habit of sleeping in a nest box and I'm sure she's doing it to escape Janet's harassment.

Yes, dominant breeds can be quite awful. It's one reason I like my Campines. They are very gentle in comparison.

My three still sleep in the nesting box/house and completely ignore the perch I made. They must feel safe enough. Even though Charlie is at the bottom of the pecking order, she’s twice the size of the Isa girls and takes up the whole nesting box. Sometimes I peek inside only to see Chickie squished between Charlie and the wall! :lau
