Maybe the office of the place where your DH works has a shredder they haven't emptied yet?
This would be a great idea, except I don’t think he in going back to the other Abattoir until the new year. He actually has the week of Christmas off. They don’t do much paperwork here that gets shredded. And I don’t think the pub has much either... I actually bought a shredder when we were in the city specifically for my composting. I would shred all our paper bags as a carbon source to balance out all my carrot and beet tops, and the coffee grounds. I’m fairly certain it is still in our storage locker

Got a nice picture of Lil' Queenie close up. Early Mugshot Monday! Can't figure what that black crusty spot is near her nose - nares rather? - a wound from pecking? Like her comb has what look like small peck wounds.

Pretty chicken! Could it be frostbite on her comb? I see it is white under the dark part-- idk maybe I'm just stupid🤷‍♀️

Could be, looks like a scab from here. I don’t know what frostbite looks like, we don’t get that cold here.

Trusted sources would be any medical facility or only those they designate? Is there a list you need to check before getting tested? I find this fascinating.

Yes, only ones they designate.

I need to get some photos of the wild chickens running around! They are so cute and super tiny. Maybe bantams?

Today while driving to south shore, we saw a cute “tribe,” as Shad calls them, living in the (sort of) landscaped island at a street corner. There was clearly a lead rooster, a couple satellite roosters, a few hens and LOTS of chicks of what appeared to be two different ages.

Sounds lovely. I am curious, how many in a 'tribe'. And now that I think about it, @Shadrach how many in each of your tribes - from thinking about pictures it is only about a half dozen I think. Is that right?

I only saw one really obvious tribe today. I saw three roosters, a few hens, and lots and lots of babies... maybe a dozen little chicks and a dozen older chicks... at least! So that would mean more than one hen set eggs, right? Since they were different ages? When we were out just before dawn, one could hear roosters crowing allover the place, but you couldn’t really see them. I think they were in the trees.
