Well, if you've got to go then at least a fatal heart attack is quick.
I will miss him if he dies. He's the best rooster in Tribe 2 in just about every respect. I think the hens would miss him as well.
I'm going to have a look at him last thing before bed.
Good luck with it all, Shad. This is the hardest part about chicken keeping. :hugs

Young Mag is sick. :( I don't think he knows he's sick thankfully. His behaviour is normal but his comb and wattles tell a different story.
Instead of being red, or even pink his comb and wattles are purpleish and that is not a good sign. The usual cause is heart problems or poisoning; leads, nitrates, other toxic chemicals. I think it's probably his heart because unlike with poisoning where the comb and wattles stay much the same colour purple until they die or recover, Mag's comb changes shades at different times of the day. In the mornings when he's been resting he comes out of the coop looking pale but more pink. By the time evening comes and he's been active his comb looks bad.
There isn't anything I can do for him which is upsetting.
Oh this is not good. Poor Mag. I hope he's resting a little more than usual. And I'm very sorry Shad.

How many days has he been purpling Shad?

About three weeks now MJ. It's only looked bad for the past 4 days.

I’m sorry to hear that Shad. :hugs I hope it’s quick and painless for him.

Our other two residents came to us in April as chicks. My wife raised them until they moved outside and then they became my responsibility.

Hattie is our lavender orpington hen. She has not starting laying yet but i expect she will once the days turn longer.

Jabberwockie, Jabber for short, was supposed to be an Easter Egger hen, however, he is clearly not a hen.

He and Hattie are inseperable.

Good looking couple!!

My heart goes out to you and to Mag. You tend well and closely to your flocks; I can see how it is especially frustrating to have it out of your hands. :hugs

She would be welcome to move into the Chicken Palace!
That is so nice but not as significant as if you invited Aurora to live at the Palace, 😆
