The Scrape

I just read the article @Shadrach wrote on the different pecks that chickens have. One of the reviewers, @Momplus1 noted that her pullets scrape her hand when she hand feeds them. Aurora and Hattie both do this to me as well. I am going to try and grab video of it later this week. I would like to hear why Shadrach thinks they may be doing this.
My Campines sometimes do the scraping thing too. They scrape & toss food around ~ usually after the first hunger is appeased. Sometimes it is when what is in my hand gets low & they seem to be looking for the tastiest tid~bits.

There's that beautiful misunderstood hen , Tsuki!

Oh she's a handful that one! But you can't help liking her when she escapes then comes running up to you when you call her name! :):hmm

When she was a pullet she climbed a tree and flew over the fence into my neighbour's yard, and from there onto the street. I had no idea where she was but my back neighbour was having a tree cut down and the lopper had seen it all and told me of her shenanigans.
Luckily she allowed herself to be lured back in with treats!

Wouldn't you love to have that on video! I bet you were stressed wondering where she disappeared to. Yikes!

Clever girl though. :clap

Got it! Here are my girls, although I seemed more interesting than the lettuce.

You are definately more fascinating than the lettuce! Those were some friendly pecks. I wonder if they were thinking your green pants were lettuce as well?
