Merry Christmas to all my Chicken Friends

It is officially Christmas at Fluffy Butt Acres. In celebration here is Daisy, the greatest hen ever, enjoying a fresh snowfall to a little Christmas music.

I hope everyone has (or is having) a joyous time with family and friends (feathered and otherwise). ;)

I LOVE this!! And Elvis :love.... and I am also a bit jealous of your chick pics with Santa! :(... I wish I would’ve done this.. def next year.. I would love all the attention the gals would bring!
Hope everyone had a very blessed Christmas :hugs... I sure did... go see why over on Ribh’s thread ;)

It is not an exaggeration to say that taking Lilly to see Santa changed my whole attitude about the Holidays. I was pretty down after Thanksgiving and the outpouring of interest, the happiness created and overall sweetness of everyone at Tractor Supply reminded me what the season was about. Then taking the other two to Petsmart just reinforced how nice strangers can be when given the chance. Everyone was fascinated by them, asked questions, and truly thought they were wonderful.

To say nothing about how well behaved the ladies themselves were and how much they seemed to enjoy seeing the outside world through the car windows.

I highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to enjoy the season next year. We have 8x10s up on the wall along with the pictures of my children when they were small. I am certain that the cats are put out that they are not up. I know my youngest daughter loved seeing them up with her.

I was hoping for a longer break in the egg laying here.
Barking mad Bracket laid a few which I got for eating and then I didn't look for a couple of days and all three got going and Bracket is now sitting on them.:he
Knock has been much the same. I cleaned out the coop and found a few eggs, left a couple in the nestbox as encouragement, now she has 6 and she's also decided to sit on them.:rant
Hurry is wandering around looking for nest sites so she due to lay soon.
According to Donks pin bones she's also laying but I don't know where.
Life would be so much easier if they only laid 25 eggs a year like their ancestors.:rant

You are officially the first person I have ever seen complain about them laying eggs. :gig

Oh, I could introduce you to a few more here. With large free range flocks it can be a real nightmare. It's fine if you can support exponential growth, or can spend time looking for nests.:hmm

I've got NO eggs in the fridge :hit
Sandy's health problems have put her out of action, and in any case the vet said permanent egg withholding - should she ever lay again, I'm going to ask you, @BY Bob whether there may still be amoxycillin in the egg.

Mary's gone broody in the heat but she's not actually sitting.

Janet's trying her best, but she's a three per week lady at best. And lately the heat has put her right off.

We ate the neighbour's eggs for Christmas breakfast.

I'm going to have to buy eggs from the shop before the weekend! Blimey. .

Yeah, the heat's slowed things down here too ~ but I do still have eggs & they are still laying....more or less. :)
