Every time I buy chicken feed
Or Purina all flock here
The Purina All-Flock is also 20% protein, but has 3.5% fat and max 5% fiber, where this has 2.5% fat and 6% fiber. Which is preferable? Less fat and more fiber?

Other ingredient differences to consider between them? I don't know which ones are better to have more (or less) of. I copied the listings I could find below.

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Lysine .8%
Purina All Flock crumbles Lysine 1.10%

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Methionine .35%
Purina All Flock 20% crumbles Methionine .55% min

Phosphorus same (.6%)

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Vitamin A 3.300 IU/lb
Purina All Flock 20% crumbles Vitamin A 7,000 IU/lb

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Salt NaCl .25-.65%
Purina All Flock 20% crumbles Salt NaCl .3-.8%

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Sodium .15-.2%
Purina All Flock 20% crumbles Sodium .55% Max

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Calcium 1.4-1.9%
Purina All Flock 20% crumbles Calcium .8-1.3%

Nature Wise 20% crumbles Vit E 20 IU/lb
Purina All Flock 20% crumbles Vit E 14 IU/lb

NatureWIse goes on to list Manganese, Selenium, Vit D3 and the actual pre & pro biotics.
Purina also mentions the pre/pro biotics without listing, writes "Vitamins A,B,D,E & K", also Niacin levels "guaranteed for ducklings" but I don't see a number.

Maybe I'll go back and forth if I can get the Nutrena crumbles. I've been buying the Purina All-Flock from TSC mail-order but they don't stock this Nutrena in crumbles. Maybe find it elsewhere. I tried a Manna Pro feed similar protein but the chickens didn't like the mash from it much, and I didn't either, it didn't seem to dissolve or mix well. So I went back to the Purina All Flock.

My older hen has finished laying so this might be the way to go (the shell grit on the side) because Bok won’t need the calcium in layer feed now huh 🤔
@LozzyR ill look into the food you suggested, see if my feed store stocks it or something similar. Always just had pellets with the other 2 but happy to try something new 😊 is it a more natural type crumble?
Thanks to both of you 👍🏻
I've had trouble with them selecting their favourite nibbles out of Laucke's 17. Peggy ended up with a bleeding liver (hepatic lipidosis). These days they're eating Barastoc's champion layer pellets which have the highest protein and lowest fat, with liver supplements added in (DMG, biotin, choline, milkthistle, and a very little cheese for methionone).

I think your pullets are old enough for adult food. If you offer both foods they can slowly adjust. Then take away the gower food once eggs come.

Well that would explain why not to have a cat but not the basis to dislike them! :lau

Except they are almost guaranteed to behave in ways that make any allergy worse. I am mildly allergic to one of my present cats & he's the one who really gets in my face creating the itchy eyes & nose. The other cat is far more reasonable but I'm not allergic to him. :gig

But I think you are right: Shad has many cat~like qualities. Could be why he's so well liked on these threads! ;):lau

wow! I’m guessing you accounted for those sorts of snow loads when you designed the palace... that’s insane. Do you need to remove the snow from the roofs? Can you hire a local guy to clear it for you? How long is the stuff supposed to stay for? 🥶🥶🥶
I can't speak for @RoyalChick but my coop and run complex was specifically designed to account for blizzards, long term snow cover, and long term sub zero temps. The blizzard was what initially drove the need to a new coop.

Yes! And I confess I too am mildly allergic to cats but the cats were here before the allergy so I manage through it.

No "Hibiclens" (Chlorhexidine Gluconate 4.0% solution) or "Povidine Topical Solution" (Povidone-Iodine, 10%) available in Canada? I recall I got these over the counter at a general pharmacy here in the US, though the Povidine is very old (1991) and the Hibiclens is from 2015.
Hibitane 4% but it needs rinsed off. The chlorhexadine sponges they give you for surgery are a no rinse product. Had a bigger emergency come up though... I just found my missing chicken! Does anyone remember how long it’s been? I’m about to cook her up some eggs and get her some Gatorade

I remember the story about the great blizzard, and yes, all designed for snow. I confess I didn't expect it to blow into the covered runs quite so much. I may consider putting some barriers up next time just to reduce that wind blown drifting. They really, really, really don't like getting their feet on the snow.

You found her? Wow. That is great. Where was she? Is she OK?

I don't believe it. It is going to snow again tonight, then again on Friday and then Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. After that it gets bone-chillingly cold again so everything will freeze solid.
All I can say is that the squirrels told us this was going to happen. They don't lie.
