It sounds lovely. I really like unusual houses ~ though I'm with Kris on the books. Must have walls for the bookshelves. Having said that...we had a lot of trouble with our kitchen. I insisted on lots of natural light then found we were struggling for wall space for appliances. We did manage in the end & the natural light is a god send now I'm getting older. The easiest way to think about it is train carriages. You have to go through one room to get to the next one. No halls or passageways. So each room (except the two at the ends) has two walls that are windows and two that are doors into the next room on the daisy chain. The rooms at each end have glass doors to the outside instead of to the next room, so they are 3 sides all glass.
I am over-simplifying a bit, but not much.
It is a bit eccentric. It is converted animal barn, milking parlor etc. from the 1880s I think.
Yes, that is definitely an issue, but it is not that I have zero wall. If you think about the width of a door (that connects two rooms) relative to the width of a room, I have that wall space twice in every room (and once in the end rooms). Doors are roughly 3-4' wide and the rooms are big - 15' wide and those spaces are almost all bookshelves. It is the same for the spaces between the windows on the outside walls. I also built some corner bookshelves that wrap around and make use of every spare inch of non-window.But where do you put your bookshelves? That was a big part of our decision to build... need lots and lots of walls for the precious books!
Thank you. Thank you all! I’m just having the best time enjoying these new babies. And so far, I think they love me too. Pecking at my ears, my chin, snuggling up against me.I'm sorry Alex. You have waited a long time for some precious babies.![]()
Yup had that issue too - but because the rooms are so wide I was able to put a lot of appliances in an island in the middle and I hang pots and pans from the window frames. Again, sounds odd but works just fine.It sounds lovely. I really like unusual houses ~ though I'm with Kris on the books. Must have walls for the bookshelves. I started with five day-old Buckeye chicks. I lost one the third dayThank you. Thank you all! I’m just having the best time enjoying these new babies. And so far, I think they love me too. Pecking at my ears, my chin, snuggling up against me.
Sounds similar the the Shotgun houses that are famous in New Orleans! No hallways.. just room to room with doors in between each.. I’ll try and find some pics....Yup had that issue too - but because the rooms are so wide I was able to put a lot of appliances in an island in the middle and I hang pots and pans from the window frames. A big hug for your lossI started with five day-old Buckeye chicks. I lost one the third dayand I still don't really know why. It was hard and I sympathize with your loss.
The other babies actually helped me through it just by being their little chickie selves
I had always planned on five chickens. And then Queenie came along! So you never know. Hugs
Oh I would love to see that. Certainly sounds like a similar idea.Sounds similar the the Shotgun houses that are famous in New Orleans! No hallways.. just room to room with doors in between each.. I’ll try and find some pics....
What a lovely photo. I love a good Tennessee walker too. I'd better since that is what the other 2 boys are. I'm glad your daughter had such a sweetheart to learn on. A bomb proof kid's horse are the unicorns of the horse world and worth their weight in gold. My dad and Rosie just left on a trail ride since its not miserable today. I expect them back in about 2 hours or so. She's always been a papaw's girl, but her favorite thing to do with him is riding.Beautiful horse and rider!! I love a gaited horse. My best horse ever was Lily a registered Tennessee Walker. She was 28 when she died.View attachment 2518728
That's Anna riding at 4 all on her own. Lily was the best teacher for Anna. I'd get on and she'd just take off and gait as fast as her legs would carry her!
