And I can’t even connect to the site... and it then tries to redirect me to Canadian tire!!! For petco’s “Canadian shoppers” who aren’t even allowed to buy these things. Anyway, after a couple google searches and some zooming in, it’s a pyrethrum based pesticide (not available in Canada anymore for birdies, and the garden ones often have inappropriate additional ingredients) a great mite killer, that works on contact. Extremely safe and effective. If I could procure some of this “contraband” it would be my go to for any normal infestations. I have to work with what I have/can get though. Petco is more stringent that the company I got my last semi-legal here “pet supplies” shipment from. (Disclaimer: I am not advocating using products that aren’t approved/legal to use where you are... I’m just subject to some new and downright dumb regulations, and have a small selection of previously readily available solutions, and am willing to bend things occasionally for the health and safety of my animals)

The ivomec pour on actually absorbs into the bird and stays in their system after application though, and the Carbaryl has a better “knock down” (initial kill rate), but unless you’re looking at a really nasty situation (I’ve seen too darn many here) this looks like an all around great product for dealing with external parasites. (So, of course it’s not available here! 🙄)

I was half thinking I’d put some spoiler pics of Tippie, Puffy, Croppy, Hoppy, Zita, and Mrs B pre and post treatment in that little “sometimes drugs are good” soapbox post, but the happy, almost healthy, chickening chicken videos seemed more positive and appropriate. (These are all some of my rescues from between Christmas 2018-2020, all now deceased, with issues like “you might need to amputate toes” severe SLM, ascites, crop issues, a broken leg, a severe cannibalism/attack injury, and a prolapse and bumblefoot for anyone without a reference point. I just wanted to make them happy, lessen their suffering and pain, and give them a chance to be real chickens... maybe one day I’ll have some time and get my butt back to my own thread eh? 😂)
This continues to be frustrating to watch. I am not in the situation but my frustration at the limitations that are placed on the care of these animals always pops me up on a soap box.

And Kris has it worse than us! :hugs:hugs
