Woah, that is weird. Have you noticed if the post numbers are consecutive or being redistributed?

I also haven’t watched for that yet but will now. Your post 4481 was not there when I went to bed, but Ribh’s Post 4482 was... and like the comment complimenting Knocks triangular nest entry was there and I liked it, but the pic of Knock wasn’t for me just the following pic of Bracket. It’s a huge undertaking to overhaul a site like this I imagine, my Roomate worked in IT and I know how challenging these sort of upgrades can be. I’m sure they will get it worked out.

Favorite “upgrade” story thus far was our switch from NCR to IBM hardware... everything was in place and it was an overnight replacement of every register in the store. It had all been tested and implemented in a different store and was “so” much better than the old equipment (sarcasm... every upgrade there just made things worse TBH) the store closed early at 9 PM upgrade and equipment replacement started at 10, our full Data staff was on hand as was the regional data team... at 5 am it was all finished, an hour ahead of schedule and the poor non-graveyard data team went home to sleep off their “hard day”, feeling I’m sure quite satisfied. Did anyone think to test the system? At any point in the install? What do you think...

The 6am opening supe comes in and nothing is actually working. They turn on, but all the computers, tills, and software are unable to work with each other. All orders were free for the first hour and a half of the store being open. By the time I got in at 10am several of the tills had been replaced and we had a few functional cash registers. We had an especially crummy data team... one of my best friends was the opening supervisor that day, we had a good laugh about it later when the data people were all gone. It took over a week for them to actually get things semi functional with the new hardware...

The new software upgrade was worse fouling our taxes most excellently, and the next two software and accounting upgrades? Well that’s a good part of the “why I left my retail job for farming” story. After two years of excusing my “American Company running British Software in Canada where neither party understands our taxes, NVM being on First Nations land and the only store with tax exemptions” no comment on active military service tax exemptions, and I so wanted to take my military friends to a location that was unable to remove taxes...

Coop Cam

Well the coop cam is down. I am not home and the batteries have run out. I meant to change them before I left but in the rush getting out the door I forgot. I am going to have to trust that my wife will make sure they are in bed safely tonight.

The camera in the run is still working. We have been having high winds every couple of days this winter with wild fluctuations in temperature. From 13°F (-10.5°C) to 67°F (19.5°C) in the space of 3 days. The up and down is hard on the ladies.

I am very glad that I covered the windward side of their big run this year. It has given them more room to roam safely without literally being blown over. I have seen the wind actually stagger them while they are out in the yard. Some days their free range has been limited to right next to the big coop (our house) because the wind is so strong.

It is another windy day today and here are Mal and Aurora using that run coverage to stay upright and still be out.

I like this pic; kind of has a Chicken Pavilion/plaza feel with the high ceiling, streaming sunlight and spacious feel. Gives me fond memories of European vacations for some reason.

The run does have double pane glass roof on it. It is made up of the glass from 4 sliding patio doors. I replaced the hardware cloth with the glass to provide light and to keep snow from burying their run in the winter. I still have to shovel it sometimes but the glass works great.

The hawks even like it as they can perch on top and watch the ladies below. :rant

Coop cam is out? Just do what I do... call her an hour before “bedtime” right at bedtime, then every 15-20 minutes after bedtime... “did you put them up yet? Are all the doors closed? Did you count to make sure everyone was in?” Have I mentioned DH is a very patient and understanding guy to put up with my worries and double/triple checking everything?

That is the plan. I’ll be back home late tomorrow so only 1 more sleepless night.

Makes for good nerf gun target practice? Or do you just take a moment to laugh at them stopped by the invisible force field? I’m currently even less charitable to birds of prey...

Nerf Targets. They are not permitted to enjoy the site of my flock. Any viewing must be accompanied by PAIN.

They are most excellent targets sitting there. ;)
