I think this is the first time I've see, or properly noticed your covered run Bob. They always seem to be around your feet on the decking.Coop Cam
Well the coop cam is down. I am not home and the batteries have run out. I meant to change them before I left but in the rush getting out the door I forgot. I am going to have to trust that my wife will make sure they are in bed safely tonight.
The camera in the run is still working. We have been having high winds every couple of days this winter with wild fluctuations in temperature. From 13°F (-10.5°C) to 67°F (19.5°C) in the space of 3 days. The up and down is hard on the ladies.
I am very glad that I covered the windward side of their big run this year. It has given them more room to roam safely without literally being blown over. I have seen the wind actually stagger them while they are out in the yard. Some days their free range has been limited to right next to the big coop (our house) because the wind is so strong.
It is another windy day today and here are Mal and Aurora using that run coverage to stay upright and still be out.

I don't think anyone will mind if you don't acknowledge some posts and cope with what you can.I wasn't able to be on here yesterday much and I'm so far behind!!! Not just this thread either.![]()
It's good isn't it.I like this pic; kind of has a Chicken Pavilion/plaza feel with the high ceiling, streaming sunlight and spacious feel. Gives me fond memories of European vacations for some reason.
Coop cam is out? Just do what I do... call her an hour before “bedtime” right at bedtime, then every 15-20 minutes after bedtime... “did you put them up yet? Are all the doors closed? Did you count to make sure everyone was in?” Have I mentioned DH is a very patient and understanding guy to put up with my worries and double/triple checking everything?

Thankfully the weather regarding cold stuff is minimal. Wind can be a major problem here but it's only a couple of times a year when it knocks buildings apart. If I’m around, I let them free range. You will see more of the big run through the winter. Once the ground is covered with snow, I sit with them on that chair. It should happen soon. They are predicting up to 8 inches of snow on Saturday. They won’t get out much after that sadly.
Looking for videos of lizards drinking...![]()
The run does have double pane glass roof on it. It is made up of the glass from 4 sliding patio doors. I replaced the hardware cloth with the glass to provide light and to keep snow from burying their run in the winter. I still have to shovel it sometimes but the glass works great.
