If possible could everyone send good vibes my sister's way this afternoon. She has to head to Tennessee in a bit to take her board certification test for being a x-ray tech. This will be her 2nd time taking it since she graduated in May. First time around it about crushed her as she was 2 points shy from passing it. Since then between starting and working full time at the hospital all she's done is study. Even more so then when she was in school.

With all that effort she's sure to pass if she can stay calm and confident.

Oh that made me laugh. I don't have a firearm but that was exactly me the other day and I found I was wielding a garden rake (first thing to hand).

This is why it is a big step for me to get the Frost Legbar chick. I really loved my leghorns and Daisy was, well, The Greatest Hen Ever. I am hopeful that the Frost Legbar looks enough different that I don't have issues or flashbacks all the time.

There's a lot of genetic diversity in legbars, isn't there? Hopefully it leads to a hen with fewer susceptibilities to reproductive problems

I need to catch up, and I will. It’s already 86° here and it’s only 10 AM. I need to start cooling down the chicken area. Yesterday I had to take my hubby to the ER at around 1 PM. Ended up picking up at around midnight. He crushed his pinky finger in a trailer accident. They had to wait for the hand surgeon who had to rebuild his finger. Ouch!

I have a mixed flock of ten one year old hens in northwestern Canada. I purposely chose not to get production breeds in the hope that they might have longer lives without realizing that dual purpose equals broody, at least in my case! I am on my eight broody of the summer right now!

One of the hens at my house has odd sized wattles too. I think it must be quite common.

Wow! Thank you for reading about the hens!! It's a much slower thread than Bob's which is important for me with my hectic work commitments.
