I think the gray hen at the back (what is her name?) is thinking that you're being cheeky and dropping hints about egg production.

Yeah right! It is OK, we all respect (actually admire) that you would lay down tile so that the chickens can come into the big coop. And don't worry, when you start spreading wood shavings over the dining room floor we will let you know you have gone too far. In my mind, an indoor next box like @Shadrach has in his kitchen is simply a sensible convenience. Like having running water rather than taking a bucket to the well. Eggs on hand in the kitchen is very useful. We're are planning to replace it with tile, not because the chickens come in but because we want tile.
Not that the temptation won't grow.
Yay!!!Lilly is laying an egg!
That would be her second one this year!

Wonderful! And they are out and hanging out with their favorite rooster-human. Bet they are happy.

Cuties!Don't mind the mess, but I was feeding the dogs last night and the "curious bunch" that are my 5 month old pullets decided to come and see what the commotion was about. Course I fumbled around long enough getting my phone out I only caught two of the six that had ventured up.View attachment 2015379
These are probably the oddest behaviored bunch I've had. They will come a running to me or the dogs, but are not yet accustomed to treats.
