I think the gray hen at the back (what is her name?) is thinking that you're being cheeky and dropping hints about egg production.:D

That is Hattie and Miss Hattie has not laid an egg since the incident.

And she wants you to know she is a lavender hen, not grey!

Lilly's egg used to be a deep brown. It gets paler each time she lays.

We're are planning to replace it with tile, not because the chickens come in but because we want tile. :gig

Not that the temptation won't grow.
Yeah right! It is OK, we all respect (actually admire) that you would lay down tile so that the chickens can come into the big coop. And don't worry, when you start spreading wood shavings over the dining room floor we will let you know you have gone too far. In my mind, an indoor next box like @Shadrach has in his kitchen is simply a sensible convenience. Like having running water rather than taking a bucket to the well. Eggs on hand in the kitchen is very useful.

Don't mind the mess, but I was feeding the dogs last night and the "curious bunch" that are my 5 month old pullets decided to come and see what the commotion was about. Course I fumbled around long enough getting my phone out I only caught two of the six that had ventured up.

These are probably the oddest behaviored bunch I've had. They will come a running to me or the dogs, but are not yet accustomed to treats.

I 110% concure! Convenience :old

That said, with the germs and the small children, i will not have a nest box inside for some time :hit

However. I will continue to brood babies in the house :love 127 quailie heartbeats in my incubators :love due tues and wend
