Princess laid her first egg in over a month today. I'm so proud her. She's been chaotic for weeks maybe this was why.

Everyone celebrated with sunflower seeds even though it's raining

I love this picture. 😀 they look very comfortable. 🥰

You might try to send flowers and a note for now, you can do that long-distance and get it to them quickly. It's not a cop-out to do that. When people are grieving sometimes lots of phone calls are overwhelming, and it's hard to take everyone in. Also, voicemail gets full and they aren't together enough to deal with it. So don't worry, trust your friendship with this man and his family, they know you care, and your support will mean a lot to them whenever and however you can show it. Indeed, down the road, after the initial hullaballoo passes, are the loneliest times.
This is very good advice. :hugs:hugs:hugs:goodpost:

I have my computer back so will be reading this with great interest.
I'm so glad that you have the computer back and will be around more. I have really missed you. :hugs

Chicken tax

These feathered dinosaurs will be the death of me.
I am sitting at my desk on a work Zoom and out of the corner of my eye I see movement outside.
It is Maggie marching purposefully past the window. I drop everything and run outside shouting ‘MAGGIE!!!”
“No need to shout” she says as she meets me by the garage.
I pick her up (very carefully because she is molting) and deposit her back in the chicken yard and am relieved to find everyone else is there chowing down on cucumber.
I have no idea how she got out. Theoretically she could fly out as the deer fencing is only 4’. But nobody has shown any inclination to do so before.
She is remaining silent in that topic (though not on any other topic).
:idunno
Did you close off the way out underneath the fence? If you did, then it is likely she flew out.

I think she went under but maybe at another spot. I need to inspect the fence where it is in the long grass. She was digging a big hole (which is really a hobby of hers) and I wonder if she dug her way out and I didn’t not notice because of all the long grass.
If it were a Roadrunner I would believe flying. But Maggie doesn’t love flying. She is a big gal and finds it hard to get lift.
