Chickens have some of the most interesting and captivating behavior I swear, I can't just watch them for hours
Oh you have come to the right thread if that is how you feel. We are all hooked on watching our chickens!
We do love photos. I may have missed as I am catching up after a trip but can we see some of your tribe?

Oh I really LOVE Scotch eggs but I only ever had store bought. I think I assumed there were machines injecting egg inside (I don’t suppose ibthought about it much!).
I am so excited you can make them at home.
But the peeling a soft boiled egg part is indeed daunting. Could you use a partially poached egg instead? Would give a strange shape to the Scotch egg but that could be fun.
Hard boiled works just fine. Poached: probably not. wrapping the sausage around the shell-less egg then the dipping process even soft boiled is going to be a challenge. I'm thinking soft boiled would taste better than hard, but... sausage gravy makes them better anyway, and they're already great. Try the recipe with your girls' eggs. I've seen several recipes where they get fried in oil. The oven in the cast iron is EASY, no oil spitting, and is simpler to do for multiples (3 ravenous boys). I've also used a baking dish. Keep the tongs handy and go turn them every 10-15 min.

I just love seeing your chickens out and about and doing their thing.
I love letting them. And watching them after work is so soothing. Even Thing was out and AWAY from the coop yesterday late afternoon. Missed getting pics as I was heading into town to pic up the kids fromthe library. Not sure what brought her out that far (up by the back of the garage above the juniper), but she was looking around with interest rather than panicky trying to find the coop. I had caulked another seam (felt the draft inside a couple of weeks ago) with a different stuff than before and the smell was noticeable when I went to close it. Maybe she'd had enough. Maybe she got curious and stepped out in bravery.

Egg mystery

Monday morning had a shell-less egg in the coop, already torn open: probably pullet egg, and likely a 1 over. Had one of the boys close the coop on Monday. Tuesday had 5 pullet eggs in there in 1 nest: 2 blue and 3 white (not sure if he collected Monday or not). Last week, caught one of the sapphires (didn't nose in to see who) in a nest, very fidgety. went back later and found a WHITE egg (they're both SUPPOSED to lay blue). Not sure if 1 lays blue and 1 white or if both are blue. Nellie and Thing are both white egg breeds. Cuckoo and Jessica (and Silver and Pear) are brown egg breeds (have 2 brown rainbow eggs, different days: color goes dark to light across the shell: pullets:idunno). Twirp was in the nest that had all 5 eggs and Not a clue as to the color she's supposed to lay as we still don't know what breed she is. (Have a list of what she's NOT). they're now 23 weeks old.

Thoughts
1. Not all collected the day before.
2. Both sapphires lay blue, the 1 ultimately didn't lay and someone else snuck in to lay before I got back out the day of the fidget .
3. 1 sapphire and Twirp lay blue eggs and the others sapphire lays white eggs.
4. The egg fairy is leaving all the eggs just to mess with me and none are actually laying.

Conslusion: more observation
