I’ve got some catching up to do but I just caught a whiff of this topic. I agree with the above, but my sister is an ICU nurse and she has recently been less than complimentary about some of the staff working in the same hospital as her, but on a different ward. Our dad was stuck in hospital for a month after having a kidney removed and she was ready to set fire to the hospital because no-one would turn up or tell us anything! I was actually quite shocked to hear about the ineptitude of the hospital staff, but I suspect over-worked and under-paid will have something to do with it.

There's a lot of data and analysis indicating that shift work is detrimental to people's well-being too. It could be a factor in the negative experience you had. Hey, do you get many ambulances kept waiting on the ramp in Sydney? It's a big issue in Adelaide.

Ok, bear with me. It’s hard to explain the difference with my 2 girls earlobes. Their combs are different so why not ears too 🤭
Snow has what I have seen in my chicken experience- red and as they age the lobes get longer and more defined for want of a better word.

Now Belle’s are paler and they kinda look like just flat pink circles (with a cute little tuft above each hehe) it’s just strange. She has no issues with hearing the back door open which usually means scraps being tossed out on the lawn.

They don’t seem to be growing at all. I’m not worried, it’s just another tick in the unique box for my baby girl perhaps ☺️
Sorry pics aren’t great, found it hard to get a good shot of lobes 😂

She's just got a bit of some genes for no ear lobes. Here's a recent picture of Butters in front, Peanut behind her, before Peanut really got into her molt. Buckeyes don't have much in the way of wattles or combs. There is an ear lobe, sort of, but it's a little, tiny, barely a wrinkle flap.

I’m going to refer to Belles as wrinkle flaps from now on 🤭😂
She lays bantam sized eggs (which we lovingly call her sparrow eggs) I think she’s a bit of a barnyard mix. She came from a farm so it’s not out of the realm of possibility

Poor Arizona, she hangs out by herself away from the other birds, walks around her nest, like she’s looking for something. She won’t set anymore, so I took her back inside with me. It’s supposed to be Jaffar’s turn tonight, and I think I’m cheating him out of his movie night. It’s okay though, I’m still not feeling well anyways.

18F yesterday and windy. Here's Peanut. She's had to fend off "helpful" pecks grooming those shoulder pins coming out. "Thanks, no, please don't"
(Popcorn tries again)
"I said, no. Really, I'm fine!"
(Popcorn pecks lightly again)
"Hey! No! I mean it! Enough!" (Peanut gives Popcorn two pecks on her face, Popcorn finally stops)

And a size comparison, everyone was fluffed out, if they had any fluff to fluff!

A group shot on the back of the big run. The sun came out in the afternoon, and they wanted to catch it back there. Popcorn in front, Butters on the right, Peanut on the far left, and Hazel doing the Hazel stare.

I dunno. I just love your hens and you get such great pictures of them.

I’m not in Sydney but that sounds pretty worrying!

I don’t purposely tease or harass anyone. I do get a little upset when I don’t get the attention that is required (medications, pain relievers, or the food that was promised) the staff at that particular hospital, has a major communications problems between shift changes. That said, there were two nurses that were excellent at picking up the pieces of others. And certainly helped me during my visit. They get a thumbs up from me!:thumbsup
I used to be a Nurse....

Even here Nurses this day and age are seriously lacking in proper 'hands on care'. They have too much theory (read university training), and not enough practicum (read old fashioned training).

Anyways I guess that is what they call progress. Used to be we had community nurses (I was one) now it seems that is no more...

One thing I am certain of: best decision I ever made was to get out Nursing! Better pay, benefits, holiday, etc in the real world.
