Haha! Usually by this time of year we have three times this much snow. And I'm not complaining! It's been a very nice reprieve so far, as long as we get enough snow in the mountains.
So far, not enough in the mountains. However, what we've gotten keeps melting which it needs to in order to rehydrate the excessively dry ground. As long as it keeps coming, we should be ok for next year. Predictions aren't good though.

Not exactly 2fers...breakfast BS (before snow)

I’ve got some catching up to do but I just caught a whiff of this topic. I agree with the above, but my sister is an ICU nurse and she has recently been less than complimentary about some of the staff working in the same hospital as her, but on a different ward. Our dad was stuck in hospital for a month after having a kidney removed and she was ready to set fire to the hospital because no-one would turn up or tell us anything! I was actually quite shocked to hear about the ineptitude of the hospital staff, but I suspect over-worked and under-paid will have something to do with it.

I loved being an RN, and I miss it now that I am retired.
But I have to mention that it can be a thankless job. People take all their frustrations out on their nurse. Regardless of who actually dropped the ball, it’s going to come down on the nurse’s head. If the doctor fails to order their medication, for example, the nurse catches all the flak for it, and yet when that actual doctor enters the room, the patient will be all smiles, and niceness, and sweet to the doctor. I used to just bite my tongue. Hahaha.
I was a nurse in Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley area, and when I first started, in the early 70’s, working with patients and family was easier than toward the end (I retired in 2012).
Early on, people were more cordial, and practiced manners and social graces.
By the time I left the field, people as a whole had become more rude, nasty, and self-centered.
If a “code-blue” happened on the unit, in 1970 other people who heard it would be concerned for the outcome for the patient. Nowadays it’s like “That’s his problem, I had to wait for my discharge papers and I’m angry” (at the nurse, of course).
But I still miss it.

The hospital I was at, if I went code blue, I would probably have to wait for my discharge papers too! Yep they are that slow! :lau:th

Ok, bear with me. It’s hard to explain the difference with my 2 girls earlobes. Their combs are different so why not ears too 🤭
Snow has what I have seen in my chicken experience- red and as they age the lobes get longer and more defined for want of a better word.

Now Belle’s are paler and they kinda look like just flat pink circles (with a cute little tuft above each hehe) it’s just strange. She has no issues with hearing the back door open which usually means scraps being tossed out on the lawn.

They don’t seem to be growing at all. I’m not worried, it’s just another tick in the unique box for my baby girl perhaps ☺️
Sorry pics aren’t great, found it hard to get a good shot of lobes 😂
And mine for example. How did they compare? How about Daisy's? (The greatest hen ever)

Poor Arizona, she hangs out by herself away from the other birds, walks around her nest, like she’s looking for something. She won’t set anymore, so I took her back inside with me. It’s supposed to be Jaffar’s turn tonight, and I think I’m cheating him out of his movie night. It’s okay though, I’m still not feeling well anyways.
Poor baby. 😥

Arizona has quite a story behind her. Thrown in my yard as a chick to be attacked by my other chickens. (For the entertainment of brats in the neighborhood) I raised her up very friendly and sweet (for a Redhead) Her sister Dakota joined us 30 minutes later. I brooded them in the house and trained them (that life isn’t as cruel as they were meant to believe) baby picture: 3C352BF2-1F07-492D-A50B-335A0A94E002.jpeg
