Temperature wars? I can’t play it. I’m here at 49’f right now

I'm pretty sure I'd win most summers, so I do the graceful thing and opt out of competing

Truth: I'm often half melted and can't manage to lift my fingers and tell people about it

Haha! It was -43C here this morning. It has warmed up to -39C this afternoon. I would never leave my girls to deal with temperatures like that though. It's -12C in the coop.

I'm so grateful that it rarely goes below freezing where I live.

But sometimes I wish the summers were milder (not at present though, we're having a wonderful summer).

OMG I know those temps working up north of Fort McMoney, extension cords to plug my truck in cracks and breaks, square tires, and don't dare blink your eyelashes will freeze together

I reminded myself of that this morning when it was -23C haha

I am glad that you are having a great summer .
We get these periods of extremely cold temperatures every winter which is why I can't presently let my summer broody hens hatch eggs. I have to be very careful about my space in the coop since I know there will be times when the hens will be cooped up.

Yup, all very familiar! We are supposed to only have one more day of this and then get more acceptable temperatures next week. Here's hoping the meteorologist isn't just trying to humour us!

Sleeping In

It's 8:00 am and Phyllis is still in bed. It's 24°F in her coop, 21°F outside.

Someone came by to lay her egg but she was not impressed with the food dish being so close to her latest nest. She left without sitting down.

Meanwhile at the main coop, everyone pulled out onto the porch. Aurora even got onto the ramp but no one would go down onto the ground. There is snow down there.

My poor chickies are hopping mad they can't get outside, they poked their heads outside - then turned and ran sqwaking back in the barn hahahaha.

My 12 week old chicks hung out by the radiant heat panel , smart kiddos!

Butters really liked you singing to her...she was talking back the whole time...and pretty much stopped chatting when you stopped singing. Sooo sweet
