When it's half-3/4 frozen, toss some gravel, kitty litter, sawdust, wood shavings down it so it sticks out of the frozen stuff: traction. Don't worry about salt. If the temp drops below 25F, it's useless anyway.

Yes wood shavings are awesome I carry a bale in my truck incase some one is stuck, works far better than kitty litter or sand.

I also use old horse bedding for my walkways, and around the horses paddocks. I once made the mistake of using the road sand/salt mix used by the roads dept here. The horses ended up licking up the mixture . That was when someone told me about wood shavings.

This is the scoop, apparently in the US Henny Penny is known as Chicken Little, in all cases of the story's idiom is the premise that the sky is falling, which is more or less equates to fearmongering ; thus the poor Pentagon Hen, may in fact have been trying to go see the king (someone there knows their Brothers Grimm!):

Fascinating There is even one version with both Chicken Licken and Hen Pen. I suppose that is a version of chicken math!

There was a Henny Penny in both stories that I read as a kid. I remember it striking me as odd that she could be in both as she is so sensible in "The Little Red Hen" and so foolish in "Chicken Little".

Some time ago there was a discussion about the phrase "Flat out like a lizard drinking"

Hubby and I went to the Zoo today and this lizard made me think of that phrase. (even though he wasn't drinking.)

Henny Penny looks very aversive, and dangerous to our existing government status. Was she carrying any weapons on her? Did she speak with any foreign accent? Did our president hide under the bed, when notified of the intrusion? Gezz, she’s just a pretty little hen. Pardon her, let her out of prison!
