I decided as there’s feed coming in today and after all the trauma of yesterday that the chickens deserved some extra treats. The weather finally improved so FBF was a go here in the afternoon…

Also I’m going to shove Spike in with the Free Range flock tonight, that might be a mistake, but he’s been almost integrating himself during the day, not being nearly as much of a jerk, and waking up with them might be better than his roosting with the rest of the jerk chicken guys… time to start putting everyone up for the night.

I love the image of the lady on the left! What a proud butt shot!!:love:love
That is my old game hen. Momma Hen or "The Old Bat" as she is most often called. I've been cursing her the last week. She started back up laying the first day of March. Laid for a week in the chicken coop and then nothing. I had been seeing her on the hillside scoping out a small cave under some rocks where she tried to go broody for the first time last spring. I just knew she was going to cause me to have to attempt to break my neck to break her up if she went broody there. This evening while leading Louis she proved how smart and sneaky she really is. The hill stunt was a decoy and I found her hiding spot by accident. She currently has a stash of 4 eggs hidden amongst my next door neighbors dead banana trees from last year. I know if I collect them I'll just tick her off and she will find a new hiding spot. My neighbor is thrilled as she's been dying for one of my girls to go broody in her banana trees. Plan is now when she commits to setting there, swap out her eggs with some of Corona's along with the 2 so far that Daisy has laid. If she holds to pattern once she has a stash of between 7 to 10 eggs she will start setting.

It was almost 70 today. It is hard to believe that starting around midnight the temp will have dropped down into the 20s and the snow is supposed to start. We could get anywhere from 4 to 6 inches if it does not miss us. I'm praying it misses us. In preparation though horses have been bedded down with a new deep load of sawdust and are happy. Dad also brought home a load of 45 bales of hay that needed put up. After helping stack the 100lb bales my back is killing me. I can't blame it all on the hay though, this drastic shift in weather is mostly to blame as it was already throbbing before the hay came.

My day was not my own! Spent my morning with my horse, and all the rest of the day with the chickens (only thing for myself was stopping for gas) and I haven’t eaten anything except an apple 🍏 so I’m having breakfast for dinner. Gas prices are painful 😖

Awwww, don't let the price of gas 'Rock" your boat:lau:gig:lau

Good luck :)
I hope too many feathers don't get ruffled 🤞.
