Are they digging under the coop to get at chicken feed? I can't see why they would be going in there by way of the ground. They are cavity-dwellers, we've had them occupy a certain bluebird box that was attached to a telephone pole, chewing the entrance hole to make it a little bigger. I let them have that one. I don't think of them as predatory / carnivorous the way the red squirrels are, but I don't really know. They could certainly chew their way into a wood or plastic coop if they wanted to. They are insanely cute, and their fur is beautiful.No, they were climbing on a large pine...at just about eye height (one was scared & nestling in a branch notch about 15' up) the other one kept wanting to come down the trunk....scurrying around it...to my height, then scooting up, then scurrying down...it was so magical of a moment!![]()
