Dairy allergies...

I am a lifelong vegetarian, I am not opposed to the idea of eating animals, but do have personal issues/ ideas about it. I eat alot less of the proccessed fake meat things since going gluten free 10 years ago. I do eat lots of real dairy though! I am definitely not vegan.
Can you eat cheese, etc? (i.e. cultured dairy), or just have to avoid milk? Or, can you have goat's milk, just not bovine?

1/2 my 'haul' today. @RoyalChick , I'ld be happy to share, since you ate your last 2 yesterday (or was it Friday?)

Something has been digging into the pen under the coop (2"x3" wire on the bottom) at night. I was afraid it might be a rat or mink. At least the hens are locked up in the coop and safe...but it concerned me none-the less. Well, last night I saw what it was....
a couple of Flying Squirrels!!!! I had never seen them before - they are really cute...but I really don't want an infestation of them. :( (of course I didn't have my camera..but here is a pic from the web:

(Hmm, pic doesn't show when posted:

It's roughly the size of a chipmunk, but much larger eyes, and looks a bit pudgier due to the skin flaps.....

They really are totally adorable.
I have had a couple find their way into the house. One I managed to persuade to show itself out of the dining room while I kept the cats away. The other beat up one of the cats when she cornered it on the stairs. They scream like banshees when cornererd. The cat was completely taken aback. I grabbed the little critter and threw it outside - fortunately I put on a gardening glove before reaching for it because they have such loose skin they can turn completely around inside their skin. It spun around and clamped its jaws around my thumb.
Here are some of the pics I managed to get of the one in the dining room (poor quality but still cute!).

Okay, you have “Rocky”, but where is “Bullwinkle”?

I should have posted this Friday evening, but, in a way I was afraid mom had cursed Branch. I've told you all that she is not his biggest fan. There has been times where I would even say he does not like her either. She would never ask me to get rid of him, but if I did I know she would throw a party. The last month though when she thinks I'm not around I have caught her holding him. She always responds with "I'm trying to see what you find so special about the little jerk". Friday when we were out prepping for the snow we were taking a coffee break on the back steps. This warm weather has had all our boys feeling frisky. The one thing that will tick mom off and me too is if a boy is too rough for no reason on a hen when trying to mate. Of my 3 boys Basil is Mom and Rosie's golden child who can do no wrong. He is still young though and is not a year old for another 2 weeks. He set his sights on one of the cochin girls and she actually submitted to him but for some reason or other he stood on her back and started pecking the back of her head. She started to get up to knock him off when out of nowhere Branch appeared and ninja kicked him off her and chased him off for a good 5 feet. My mother let let out words I never thought I would hear come out of her mouth. She repeatedly kept saying "good boy Branch" and then went and picked him up and snuggled with him repeatedly telling him what a good boy he was. I don't know who was more stunned, me or Branch. When she finally set him down he crowed at her and she was like "yes, tell the world what a good boy you were". When I recovered from my shock I did inform her that she had just cursed him and something would happen to him now. I am joking on the curing part, but yesterday when she went out with the horses for a few minutes in the cold she again held Branch. She came in and casually informed me that she guessed we needed to keep the little jerk. She will never admit it, and may always call him a jerk, but she likes Branch now.

I don't have dairy allergies, but know several people that do. Just saying it isn't always a moral issue.
Okay, I wrote a very long response...then deleted - short form:
I think I was mi-understood. Whatever we eat, we should do it as morally/ethically/sustainably as possible. (Understand we are naturally omnivores - if you choose to be vegan, it is a real commitment to actually get the balanced diet that humans need, as we need certain proteins that are plentiful in meat & eggs that we can't synthesize - but that doesn't make vegans wrong.) However, whatever your diet, don't be hypocritical.

(I was attacked once for wearing leather boots...but saw that person in the cafeteria 1/2 hour later eating a hamburger.)
